Well, I'm getting in the game a little late...so it's a rush job, but I'm on holiday so it's okay

I couldn't come up with anything to mash up for a long time either, but I eventually settled on The bridges of Madison county and Alien. Fits this phase I'm in right now of placing menacing creatures into friendly everyday environments.

And here are some pictures I dug up and my first sketches all in one neat picture.

Well, crap. I mean, thanks :) I do like it too...but I kinda went with the first one already. I know it's a bit boring but...well, I don't know. Maybe I'll paint both and then see. Double rush job, yay.

Dont get me wrong, they are all brilliant looking, I loved the angle and perspective of 3 though.
spend all your time on one and keep quality to the max!

Yeah. I tried to further the 3rd one a bit too but it just didn't fly...so the first one it is.

I laid down the base colors and stuff for it already

I decided to leave the big aliens out altogether and go with a facehugger threat instead. I like the facehugger better anyway. I came to realize a while ago that it's probably the greatest achievement in creature design...ever. And they're nasty as hell. I'd have an alien cave in my skull any day rather than have that thing rape my face.

Is this going to be a matte painting or a very realistic digital painting, I love the details you have planned out. I agree the facehuggers scare the hell out of me lol. They remind me of spiders only worse.

Isn't a matte painting just a very realistic digital painting (or painting of any medium...) :) Nah, well...It's just a painting for me. Although, I do strive for realism.

Hmm, I just re-read the assignment for this challenge and noticed something that I'd forgotten when trying to come up with something to mash up...that all of the subjects in the image must be from one movie and the style from another :hmm: So...that means I'll be disqualified. Well, that's what you get for being stupid.

At least I had fun painting.

Come on, come on! You can make it. You pumped out this image pretty fast, I bet you can do another one

This image looks great, I like the vintage look of it. Hopefully I will be able to draw like this one day :-) When I got time to practice

Maybe so, but I still think your work is awesome!
I guess I'm making the same mistake, but somehow I hope they'll let it slide. Creativity shouldn't be limited by rules.

Btw, how long did you work on this?

Thanks everyone :) Yeah, I'm kinda hoping they'll let it slide too, seeing as there are quite a few people who have bent that rule :) And yeah, even though there's "plenty" of time to do another one I feel I'm all out of juice after this one.

Ummm, I worked on this like...three or four days. Or like four hours each day so that's what...12 hours. I might have lost the track of time on some late nights though, so it might as well be 22 hours. Let's say something in between.

Good to see your at it again man :). You really dash out good at these ones!

Sorry for not checking in earlier but I just saw it actually :D. Think you nailed the realism in this one even better than in the lost jungle actually even though it seems you have more blank areas, good improvement either way!
