Seen a lot of cool stuff at SIGGRAPH so far but these two things really caught my attention:
Auto Topology in 3Dcoat:

Mesh Mixer, which apparently has been out for a while:

I imagine used together, possibly with Sculptris or Zspheres II as well, there are tons of possibilities and ways to make building complex forms in a fraction of the time.

Mesh Mixer seems like a usable tool.

I tried Mesh Mixer a long time ago and it's a nice enough tool but after the initial "this is fun" it's not something I go back to at all really

Well the difference is now there is a way to auto-retopo back to quads in minutes thanks to 3Dcoat, which means there is a very practical use for it now.

Put the idea in practice. Took an existing sculpt of mine, removed the head in Mesh Mixer, removed the toes in Sculptris, and finally generated the topology in 3Dcoat. Took a little trial and error but eventually I got the results I was after.

It's not perfect, had maybe an hour of cleanup to do in Maya, but I'm still getting better results in a faction of the time. I'm sold.

This looks promising. I used a similar technique for Blender which works really well (though it takes some more time than 3Dcoat's autotopo obviously)

Hi Guys, This all sounds very interesting, would anyone be prepared to write an article on the subject for the site? A bit like this thread with the video links but just more details and screenshots...we could pay with books...lots of lovely books to arrive through your door :)

Something like an article (or series) of the future of CG perhaps :)
