"How to survive a zombie apocalypse."
This is the title of the first game me and my team are making at university.
We have 14 weeks in total to make the entire game, with 10 weeks to get a feature complete version.
The idea of the game is to make a 3D-sidescrolling action game, featuring a little old lady doing her best to survive a zombie apocalypse.
The actual goal of the game is to survive long enough to get rescued.
you play the game in the old lady's home. Using the environment and all the stuff the old lady has, you can make improvised weapons and traps, in order to kill the zombies that are breaking into your house.
I'll be posting updates on this project as they arrive. At the moment, we don't have any concept art, but we do have some crude versions of the house and are currently working on a rough version to create and test gameplay.
That's it for now. Wish me luck guys.

you do realise trying to make a game in 14 weeks is going to put you off ever being involved in making a game again?
I did the same thing for my final project (there were only 2 of us mind). We did a 90 hour stint running up to the deadline and I slept so hard after handing it in that the only way anyone could wake me up was to set fire to my sock.
good luck - finishing this will be the most awesome thing you've ever done.
edit:
oddly, our game was about zombies (it had murderous cows in too)

heh. well, actually, we are already pretty much done, tech-wise. so now it's a matter of content pumping.

yeah, really sucky animations that took me way too long to make.
animations, sort of (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfDf370eIqg)
enjoy.
btw, the model is mine, texture is made by our texture artist and still very much WIP :)

it's been a while since i last updated this thread. we've been quite busy since then. today, i finally got started on the texture for the zombie.
the concept was made by a teammate and i made the model and the texture. the texture is still very much a work in progress, but plan on having it done by next week as well as the animation needed for this guy.
the arms and legs are going to be used as building materials for barricades :D
Doesn't really look like a zombie to me.. More like an ogre or something.
I was never really a fan of coloured 'alien' skin.
Actually.. you could very easily change the zombies into aliens.. would make more sense with these guys as enemies imo.

true. the green is too bright atm. i can easily tone that down. but to change it to aliens...our teachers will kill us.
we already went from a sidescolling action game to a resident evil/tower defense mix :D
hmm If that's the case show some muscle through ripped skin maybe one of the forearms could show some bone? Add some bruises, desat the skin. And of course glowing eyes!

new update.
worked on the texture and tried to work in the bone idea. i really like it a lot. i still need to get an "ok" from my art lead, tho.

yeah, i made me some animations today :)
really short, fairly simple, far from perfect, but i think it will get the job done.
these two animations, 3 seconds in total, took me 6 hours to make. now, i have no idea what so ever if that's a long time or not, but i had fun and i like how it turned out.
enjoy guys 'n gals and good night.
