Cant believe no one has commented on this yet.
Really nice piece.
I particularly like the assymetrical shoulder design, and the axe of course.
He sort of looks like a Highlander warrior what with the kilt and all.

love the idea of the scars on the face but the neck protection seems a little big compared to shoulder armor for example

The model itself is brillant, my only problem is the compo of the scene. The grey background like that is just too boring.

Really awesome work, but I have to agree with Silok that it could have been a lot stronger a piece if the background wasn't so grey. If you could add some cobblestones or rock paving under his feet and maybe some environment skybox it would really improve the composition.

It seems like he should be holding the axe in his other hand, since it would be the arm with the greatest range of motion, and his right arm would work best for holding a shield, since it's better armored.

His feet see a bit large, that was my first impression :)
Really great portrait and simple saying pose.
Modeling and Rendering is perfect.

Very nice! The only thing is that he takes his hammer like a girl!

Thats awesome, I really like it. I do agree with some of the crits about presentation, but the character model and textures look great.
