MatchMover - Import axis issue with 3DsMax. Need Help :(

Basically i am new to using Matchmover and have used this tutorial to help me:

I have been doing a few practice videos to get used to the software. My one issue is that when i import the maxscript file into 3dsMax the camera and the points are tilted wrong. I want to align the floor from my footage to the grid on 3dsMax. I cant just grab the whole thing and rotate it either because it throws the camera off.

The tutorial uses a box in the footage which has all three dimensions but i am only using a flat piece of paper with markers on. Maybe this is the problem?

Try going to Edit menu -> Preferences, on the first tab there is an option called, "Up Axis." Generally the Y axis as the up axis should be correct, but depending on the program you are using and how that program is configured, you may need to switch this setting. I would recommend re-exporting with both the X and the Z programmed as your up axis and see if that fixes the problem.

Another issue that you might have is that your coordinate system is not defined inside of matchmover. For instance, you've tracked your footage and now you need to select some of the solved points and tell matchmover which two or three points are the X axis, and which two or three points is the Y or Z Axis.

For the up Axis i have been using Z but i will try X later on today!

Also in the tutorial it explains how to set the coordinate system and i have tried all different points but it still has the same outcome :\

I will carry on messing about with it and hopefully solve the problem.

No problem. If you've tried different points with the same outcome, I'm pretty sure that means your Up axis is incorrect. In most programs the Up axis is going to be either Z or Y, most likely not X even though X is worth a try if Z or Y doesn't work.

I would start by switching the up axis to Y first, and then try X. Also, make sure you're doing that in the menu from the Edit->Preferences section. Then when you define your scene axes, make sure you assign 2 or 3 points to the Y axis, which will be a straight line up and down (Like a wall, or edge of a brick, etc...).
