View Full Version : Freezing transformations resets pivot orientation (Maya)

I'm currently building a rig where I want to place a hand control at an angle that follows the rotation of the hand. The problem is, I want to reset the transformations on that hand, so rotate x, y and z are all set to 0, but maintain the rotation on the pivot point. When I freeze transformations, it resets the pivot point for that object resulting in the following.

One Freeze Transformations later

Is there a way I could simply reset the values of rotate X, Y and Z without loosing that pivot point?

Cheers.

it could be a couple of things

(1)
have you got any constrains e.g (point constrain, orient constrain) on your controller. if you do delete them, then freeze transformations the controller, then set them back up

(2)
the controller has to be in a group to hold the transform info so the controller is zeroed

if all else fails you can botch it by moving the control vertex (LMB, control vertex) but this will probably come back to haunt you when you realize where you went wrong in the first place

if i have not explained myself well just say and I'll have another go
