my heavily xj220 inspired concept car, made this after watching lemans and 2fast 2 furious, and just felt like making something like this,
it was modeled in rhino3d and rendered in brazil,...

Hi Sabaman!!
Really nice modelling and great design.
The reflections are way too high though.
The reflection level of the material looks OK but the environment map is too strong. I take it your using two HDRI maps. One detailed for the environment and one lower res for the light.
The light level is spot on but the environment HDR image needs lowering. Try turning down the RGB level in the output section of the material rollout. The lighting will stay the same but the reflections will not be so bright. If this affects the colours you can adjust the white point in the bitmap setup.
Hope this helps ;)
Mike.

mike, i only used one hdr, but these maps was a bit strange, i had too make the output really high to get a decent lookin result, but ill try to tone it down,
lamer, nice lookin, true, actually, the whole background was like that but i was too lazy to blur that part in ps too, also, in the third pic, you can see through the grill that there isnt a right rear wheel,
again, thanks again all,...

Nice one sabaman!!!
It's even more impressive now I see the wire!
One of the cleanest car meshes I've seen. Well done!!;)
I totally agree about post work. You can do some amazing things with photoshop and the like, but I feel like it's cheating. I like my renders to be "pure" so to speak. Straight from the 3D app! You can't hide your 3D tallent then.
Keep up the good work! ;)
Mike.
P.s. I'll be posting my car soon so you can get me back for nit picking. Lol :D

I got to love this car...damn, what a ride!
Can you show us some inside shots?
Just to see if the inside is as great as the outside!
PS...are you following a school or somekind in 3D?
(Im on Grafisch Lyceum R'dam where I only learn how to use max basics :(, but really, really want to learn rhino)
sabaman

Yeah, if not 1600x1280 the 1280x1024 will do :D
Hell, I'd buy a bigger moniter if you could render a bigger picture!
May I ask how long you have been doing 3d?
sabaman
06-07-2003, 05:25 PM
ive been doing 3d for about 5 years now, but only seriously for about 1 and a half year,
3 and a half year of truespace and 1 and a half year rhino3d and i learned some max at school in that time too,
heres the 1600x1200 render, youll have to blur the background yourself though ;)

I'm seeking for one 2...only then for my internship.
I thought maybe you know some places were to ask.
I maybe have an adress for you, but I don't know if this is what you are looking for...and BTW, they don't use rhino.
It's called DPI (www.dpi.nl)...I guess you've allready heard of it [knowing you were on GLR also].
They make almost only architectual work.
If you could give me some adresses to ask for "stages" Im am eager to hear. :D
