Ok here's the scenario

i have to model via not so good photo reference 7 old aged buildings and 1 cathedral (exterior). Along with that all elements that make the surrounding area, from sidewalk to green surfaces. It will be a place to remake certain things to go along with the plan of making a high end restaurant and bar.

I am thinking about almost low poly'ing it, since the trouble in modeling all the buildings in high detail is time, and future renderings.

along with that modeling, i need to texture everything and make it look legit or as closely as possible to reality

after that phase, need to define up to 6 stills and make lighting effect of daytime, night etc.

So i'm interested in how to form a price for this, giving you some photos so you can see the complexity or simplicity of the task at hand

p.s. everything precisely :O circled is to be modeled, X marks things i don't need to do...

Hm. Isnt it possible for you to go to that place yourself and take some decent photos? (I would include that within the price tho :P).

Other than that. What is the time given to you when it has to be completed and how long do you think you need to complete it? And does the modeling also include the new restaurant or not?

You say you have to make at least 6 stills in both daytime and nighttime. So 3 day / 3 night? Or 6 day / 6 night?

All that you should calculate in your price (and ofc you know that more work means higher price, but also if you have a very close deadline you should ask more).

So if I where you I defined a hourly rate. If you have a very close deadline your hourly rate should be higher than if you have a couple of months to complete it. Than its a simple "hourly rate * time you need to complete it = price"

For rendering, you could think of using a renderfarm, and calculate the costs of it to your client.

So have you settled on anything yet?

sorry Nukie didn't see the post...

i set the price at 3.000 € which is the same price an architect studio offered them - so i'm happy i was in the same ballpark as they. I gave another offer with that for 500 € to slap a few pictures on a plane, make it look like it's modeled and not go all high poly super real and stuff

they turned down both of those offers, since their entire project still depends on the town major who needs to decide will he give them the green light or not, so investing before they know can they do it or not isn't in their best interest.

All in all i'm happy... and honestly if i landed job i think i wouldn't have 1 minute of sleep entire january/february, since i'm overclocking as it is

Glad you figured something out. Shame they turned down your offer but you are right. There is nothing better then sleep... well...maybe except for that one thing I sometimes do with my wife...you know...dining together...
