Weapons Of Dominance

The idea here is to create an ultimate weapon, one so powerful it can’t help but win a war. One so great, the mere mention of it’s name causes the enemy to surrender. One so horrendous, the wielder has to crazy to even try to use it.

Idea:

Draw, paint, sketch a weapon that does not exist, yet. Your only restrictions are to create a weapon, try to have it fully rendered.

DUE DATE: Feb 20th 11:59pm GMT

Final Entry Thread will be up the week before the deadline

Keep all work in progree in this thread

I was thinking of making a vagina tank, but decided on this instead.

It's supposed to be a parody of weapons from stuff like World of Warcraft, where weapons are big, bulky, and not very practical. I'm going to add a whole bunch more various weapon parts onto it, though I'm not sure where there's room for them.

My goal for now is to have it look less like a hunk of metal, and more like a hunk of death, because right now it doesn't look as threatening or powerful as it should do.

Thanks OcheevaSithis, was a lot of fun.
N°10 (Toasted crow) is a gobelin weapon.
N°9 is a demonic one: "Deathtouch", it's an old artifact (Finger from some forgotten powerfull necromant), that gives to the enemy it touch some leathal doom.
N°40 is a kinda sadistic one and weight is quite hard to handle, but it just works against males.
N°39 is quite good against some kind of famous music artist, target the head and hit with your best strenght. If you make a good shot, (for exemple brain is smashed enough) you can even shout some big spartiate: "AHOU!!! AHOU!!! AHOU!!!" (Not the Michael Jackson one, opposite).

I had some inspiration from birds and fish/sea too, that's how you start, you get an idea then you work on it trying to make it progress.

Nice one thefmilyofblood, I'm sure you'll get this one powerfull enought and unhandable. Like the parody, so true.

Here's my starting basic lineart for a demonsword.
The circle in the centre will be an orb that the demon is bound into.
Obviously I'll add heaps more detail and I want the blade to be fully carved with symbols etc.
Was also thinking about doing the Bagpipes from Hell so might explore that idea too.
Can we submit more than one or do I need to decide between the two?

Divisional circular pattern on mid-handle a bit smaller.
Have you ever handle a double edge weapon?
I think it would hurt your wrist when you swing as it is now.

Thanks for the feedback!
I've reduced the mid handle guard section as suggested.
I added this bit just to stop hands slipping when the blood is flowing so if it's smaller it's cool.
My two handed sword experience is a little limited so any advice from you master swordsmen is appreciated :)
Here's an update.
Once I'm happy with the lineart I will move it into photoshop and try and make it pretty.
More crit and suggestions very welcome.

Hey gfxengine,
I like concept 3 most but reckon you could make the handle chunkier to match the head of the axe.
Others are great too but that one stands out to me.

I really like Hula's idea about the ring detaching and becoming a Tronesque frizbee!

This ring encircles the central orb to which there is a demon bound. The original idea was that this ring would channel the demon's energy and allows the sword bearer to create an energy blast attack of devastating power. It will also have the runes inscribed around it that bind the demon to the sword.

I will explore the killer frizbee concept further as I like it a lot.

You could also post those renders onto the other thread (3D) here (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=81121&page=4) to try to get some more comments and feedback from Big-Toe, Poopipe and co, they got more low-poly modeling experience than me.
It's a nice work, you've found the good mood on it.
-I hope you'll made some nice detailings and texturing for this one, now that you've got some strong basis, you can try to devellop its own kind of "personality":
What's this weapon? Who? When? Why? How? Use? Name?
Character and originality: details and changes will come from themselves.
Make it yours, give it a "soul".
I'll follow your work, keep it up!

gumby666, you'll need some kind of "mechanic" to launch this one, it could go like a frizbee, or come back like a boomrang (that could be cool too).

Here's a sketched up idea.
Only a very rough concept.
Idea is the disc is released on a razor sharp chain so the sword becomes a longer range weapon.
Kinda a God of War derivative I guess.

Will also play with the idea of it shooting out independently from the sword and returning to the user. Guess this would involve some magic whereas this idea is more mechanical.

Found some time on lunch to have a play.
Added a 'frizbee release mechanism' to the hilt of the sword.
Idea is that the Frizbee blade and orb have been split in two.
Once the mechanism is released the wielder can launch the frizbee and once it leaves the end of the blade to two sides of the orb attract together like a magnet making the frizbee whole.
This is controlled by the razorlink chain which is anchored in the channel in the centre of the blade.
I'm sure there's heaps wrong with my engineering so please give any suggestions.

Made the handle a bit thicker too as suggested.
Is this too thick now??

Right, think I'm happy with the design now!
Below is the last version before I start adding colour and texture.
This shows the frizbee release mechanism.
I also extended the blade length slightly.

hehe! I originally though the same thing but then I guess it depends on the war :)
I tried to build the killer frizbee and demon blast into the weapon so that it was more than just a simple sword.

That said, reckon your supervirus might have issues against any undead as they're already dead ;P

I haven't done anything on this in ages, so I decided to go into a RAGE of DEADLY FURY and HACK the CRAP out of it. The picture looks sloppy because I painted it using the sword in the picture.

Also, eagle-eyed viewers might possibly notice that the sword now has an angry face. I got that idea from a comic.

C, here i was thinking why is everybody making swords and guns....why is nobody making a tank or summin, i think that would beat a sword or gun, good to c someone is on par :)

its that i cant draw for shizz.....my idea would have been a simple satellite that shoots a frikkin' laser beam or something that destroys the planet.

Its kills everything thats a cow, chicken, pig or human, for the rest of the organismes it lets everything they eat taste of white jellybeans, wich is awesome.

its ofcourse contagious in all forms, airborn, skin to skin, even by just looking at a infected person, and immunity is impossible, even for demi gods and gods.

Ah, and ohyea, did i mention its trainable...yes, yes its trainable like a dog, u can tell it not to affect people you dont want dead....so it only targets ur enemy.
