Character: Barock

Hey guys

After not posting stuff for a while I have finally come up with something. I have been experimenting a lot with 3/4 view, shading, lightning and hair. They are all things that are very hard to master, so I have seen. I have once again drawn a concept of the head and will presume with the whole body and with ¾ views and stuff. It’s suposed to be an orc, an orc chieftain to be precise.

( and don’t give me crap like his teeth are to small cause there are no guidelines how an official chieftain should look like :D:D:D:D )

I have tried some new lightning thingies and shadings styles. I have also added hair and oh boy does that sucks. Therefore I am applying to this forum and I am hoping to receive some harsch but honest critics to improve my drawing and antomy skills.

Ps, I made this photo with a digital camera and the darn thing won’t focus and light right so it’s kind of blurry and the lightning aint’t right either. Hope you guys will understand. :D:D

I especially like the sideview.
His chin looks as if it might be a bit bigger on the front view (as in, broader and taller). Or smaller in the sideview, bit I like the bigger chin :D.
In the front view, the big wrinkles along his mouth go up and look as if they disappear in the cheeks, while if you made it look more like they come from the sides of the nose (which would be anatomically correct) would add some more realism. In the side view you did manage do to this.
I also thought, a guy with such a defined wrinkled chin might have at least one bigger wrinkle underneath each of his eyes.
That would also make the sidewrinkles of his eyes look better, I think.
One question, btw, the area above his mouth, before I thought that the bumpiness there were some wrinkles. But as you mentioned teeth in your explanation, I guess that that is what they are, sorry for the confusion before. You might want to make the area towards the lip a bit brighter, because right now it seems more like they are -on- the lips instead of coming from underneath them. See what I mean?

You could also make the top and bottom adges of the actual eyeballs a bit darker to make them seem more round, they look a bit flat as they are.

This might seem like I'm talking down this drawing to you and probably others, but note that I'm extremely nitpicking and looking for flaws as I know you like to get direct pointers and harsh criticism! I think this is a good drawing, and love your sense of contrast as always! Keep it up, because I think your work is turning out great.
