Haven't been here in a while with all the crazy uni work but the lure of that newsletter proved too tempting....

No real ideas yet but hopefully I'l have the time for this comp!

Name for the image is random, possibly nothing to do with the eventual image lol :haha:

first WIP, such an open brief i had no real idea about what to do but one composition i had in mind was something like this, action scenes within a silhouette, kinda like the cover art for alpha protocol.

not sure about direction of the film so until i hav a clearer idea about the plot of the film lol. at the moment i guess atomhawk is some kind of nuclear weapons project and terrorists have stolen some of the technology....sounds like a 90's B-movie lol!

if anybody has any idea about plot direction i should go in or something about the poster i'd be happy to hear

i really like the action within the silhouette idea, then all the negative space to work with with. About the plot, you can go crazy i think, as long it gives you visual clues to enrich the characters, or vehicles, or whatever...

Hey, it's cool poster, colours are nice, main guy looks like a detective or hero maybe.. =) Lower guy is the terrorist? Keep up the good work.. =)

second wip, though more like a new variation of the first idea. went a little overboard with the explosion scene :lame:

thanks for all the support guys!

@Kungfoowiz: yeh so many ideas of mine seem to start with detectives or terrorists... lol ;p but that seems to hav changed a little in the new one.

plot idea for this second one is that atomhawk is some kind of space opera. not sure to be honest.

theres two variants, which do people like more with moon or without? its a bit imposing, especially the colour i guess. also, im thinking of reducing the silhouette guy to a fraction of the current size but then theres no room to fit images within it.

i have a third silhouette idea which i like so i might giv that one a shot before comin back to this or the first, anyway hope u guys like it.

many crits would be helpful

ah thanks for all the crits guys. sorry i havent been around for a while. stuffed full of uni work, didnt think I had time to finish this, except I see theres an extension so I thought I might as well try to complete the piece!

will post some new work during the next coupla days til the deadline if i can! im guna reduce the size of the character to increase the implication of epicness of the environment lol

@elgama: its Tw Cen MT Condensed, one of the basic ones on my pc but i like it cos its so simple.

well after doing some work on it today i think this is pretty much the final image.

only thing im not too sure about is the tag line. it seems a little long lol :haha:

Anyways, the synopsis, fashioned after old scifi movies, including improbably timelines! :lame: :

"2040. The third world war was over before it truly began.

Nobody really won, a truce was declared as a new space race was ignited in the search for more sustainable energy in our solar system. Mining outposts had been set up along the Belt, overseen by the Mars and Jupiter colonies.

2119. The long-forgotten war no longer mattered, there were no countries in space. Companies now held the power. But in the darkness at the distant barrier of the solar system a new body appeared. An enigma to all scanning networks the body glowed.

Everything about it remained a mystery except one thing.

It was moving towards Earth."

Sounds like a mishmash of 80s-90s scifi films right? :lurve:
