Hi all! Finally it started :dance:
Little story:
After five long period of war, men finally got tired of endless bloodshed and pain. Loosing a friend, or member of the family one day, and murdering someone else on the other finally got to the heart of even the most deadly, and violent creatures of the world of Dominance.
In their desperate desire for a way out, Nimrit, Goddess of Humility was created from the souls of the fallen in battle, and from the heart of the unfortunate ones who managed to stay alive.
After the Goddess finally took material form from the mourning prayers, she came down to the fields of battle, where lost men and beast fought their battles over nothing.
Generals with thousands of battle scars, beasts from the depths of the Earth, and tired soldiers of war all surrendered their weapons after years of pain, and agony, seeing maybe the last pure, innocent being sitting in the middle of the battlefield...
Gods of War, Fire, and Brutality lost their power... no one prayed for them anymore...
This is how Nimrit, the Goddess of Humility became the most powerful of all Gods in the realm of Dominance.
I hope you liked the story!! As far as I know Nimrit means humble, so thats why I picked the name. Aaand because it sounds cool :D
My final image will be the scene, where Nimrit sits in the middle of the battlefield, playing her flute in the middle of the scene glowing in the dark, surrounded by various battle worn warriors. (the pose she will be sitting in is already fix!)
Her palms, and bottom of feet (whats that called?:D) will be pink, kind of like a real soft skin, which symbolizes how pure she is.
Some jewelery, like a necklace, or a tiara will be... present :D
Not sure about the design of the clothing, and about the colors she will wear, but it will take shape I guess. Will try and fire up a concept later on.
I feel, that the most important parts will be the hands, and feet, so those must be perfect... I don't really know how that information is important to you guys, but I already written it down so :D

Sorry I didn't wait till I can show something better, but I'm all hasty here :D
This basically just represents the pose, and the feel I'm going for with the final image. Now I'll draw a naked girl (wehee) and make some cloth variations. After we select the best from the cloth design, I'll draw some armor on it (like thin lines of metals).. and then start to work with the 3D part.
Meanwhile, let me know which one of these girls you think fits the word Humility the best!

i think gwyneth paltrow whould be great but with a different hair (maybe pic3), and much brighter skin than how she looks on this picture that'll make her more pure :) i'm not sure if she was born in the us but her face might look a bit too conservative so maybe mixing from the second girl's face could be great. especially if you'd like to make her face younger

Humility would be the antithesis of pride rather than war so in that sense your backstory isn't making a lot of sense to me. It's a good story, I just don't see humility.
Also,don't pipes tend to be associated with drinking and humping in older naturalistic religions?

The origin of the character and the focus on hands and feet is very cool indeed. I think you're better off looking into Hindu iconography than the pseudo Celtic stuff you seem to be heading for though

tsabszy: Yeah, I was thinking the same u said. Mixing some elements from all the three. Haircut does look cool on 3., but 2. have the right head shape, and first have the right features.. I'd probably stick to one of them, coz I'm not really good with girl's head modeling, so a well know actress would provide a lot of reference, which would probably lead to a better end result than just me making stuff up :D
poopipe: I was thinking the same before I went to sleep, that my back story kinda miss the whole humility attitude to it. It would be an Ok story for goddess of peace, but I'm doing Nimrit here, so I'll rewrite it in one of the breaks.
Yeah, I'm kinda looking in the direction of east for references. My sister knows this stuff, and has some pictures, so I kinda saw a lot of them already.
I attached an image of Krisna. These pictures have a really strict rules to them how they can, or cannot show the god, so I had to modify this and that for my pose. Also, Krisna is male. The picture also shows the idea for the palms, I think it looks really nice, very pure, and innocent.
Thanks for tips, and for commenting on the back story! It's a very important part for me indeed!

This is the basic proportion of Nimrit. The goal was to make her child like, but still emphasize her female attitudes. Probably will change a bit during 3D part :D

The 3rd one is nice but it would be better if you included more of a regal feel to it, but otherwise awesome!

The face seems slightly large, in proportion to the head, if you get what I mean. Though that could be due to the FOV of the camera.

nice work done . but dubble check the proportions. they are off all over the model. and make her nose smaller - it realy bugs me to see a pinokio godess :D . and dont forget BIGGER BOOBS :) .

I was thinking, that the clothes looks alright, but the outer silhouette is very dull, and nothing special is going on. I need to think of something to make it more god like. I was also thinking, that I will add one or two little butterfly, with kind of a blue spirit effect, with like 75% opacity and stuff, flying around the head of Nimrit.
edit: can anyone tell me, if there is a way to fix problems like this in zb? I was doing some tests, and there were some unwelded vertexes along the symmetry line, and they caused a hole. my question would be if this can be fixed inside zb?

I think youd have to retopologise the mesh (or at least that part of it).
Aside form that then I dont think there is anyway to fix problems like this in ZBrush.

well you can but its not wort the effort. as krallis saif you can retopologyse it in that particular area but its easyer to use "goZ" and drop it to max -> weld -> back to Zbrush.
but if you dont have this plugin than you just export it to max ->weld->back to Z -> project all bact to the new mesh. but i would suggest you to use "GoZ" - this way you wont get any unwanted artifacts .

i have a advise for you to avoid this problem in future. before exporting, put a turbosmooth with 2 literations on you model to look for bad areas. this will save you some time and nerves :) . i allways dublle check my models this way.

Nice sculpt so far, the basics are there for you to build on.
I agree with Lex, humanity is going to be a tough thing to sell in your character. You're going to have to dig deep to get the ethereal and godliness qualities pouring out of your character. Should lead to lots of cool experimenting for you.

The arm was too long, feet was too small, so fixed them. Tried to find a good shape for back, and for the boobs. A tad more "fat" then I want her, so that will be fixed.

Decided to hide stuff I'm not sure about, and work my way out.. I wanna move on, but the girl must work well in order to make the other stuff look good, so I think this time will pay off later on..
What do you think of the buttocks?

I came across this error (picture) when I wanted to divide my model further more.
Does this mean that my memory is full?
Or can I click some stuff, in order to make another subdivision level?
(I wanna keep the lower subd levels)
I'm detailing the hand, and its fine how many polys I have there, but a tad more would be better. Using zb 3.1 at the moment.

The buttocks look too round. They are more like kidney shapes, though if you want her to have a "ghetto booty" then you are on the right track :)

that error message saves a lot of headache!... it used to be if you tried to subdivide with part of the mesh hidden it would subdivide what is visible then make triangles to mix the 2 densities together... which is bad.. now you can still do that but you have to be on subdiv1.
now that there is a warning it stops me from doing that, while not even paying attention :P
looking pretty good so far! keep it up!

I get it when trying it with a mask on... Mask works the same way as the hiding regarding that.

Inner round lines/limits of the boobs lower. This between boobs part is not so hight, there is a greater upper torso (upper boobs triangle/pentagone) surface.
Except for silicone ones.

as for the message in zbrush i will repeat what was said by others - the part of your mesh is hidden. if you want to work with diferent parts of the bodie and subdivide by not unhiding the mesh i can recomend you two workflows:
1. from the start subdivide it to 5 subdivs and hide your parts of the mesh and scrol through your subdivisions without any messages.
2. this one i recomend. split your mesh to polygroups and than work with separate polygroups . this way youll have a cleaner workflow and will be more productive .

So still working on the body. Did a mayor review.. feet/legs still needs work.. I think I'll do some research on what stuff I can add to her clothing which will make the entry more interesting. Like shoulder protectors, or a huge book whatever... I feel like where its heading at the moment, there is nothing special at the end, and something is missing.. so I need to get back to the concepting stage, and figure out how to make this better.

Flat zone up/between the boobs is bigger. Mid round part of da boobs (mid lines birth) doesn't start so hight. I'll paintover...

Something doesn't look right about her waist, but it could be only the angle
Aside from anatomical stuff, I like the whole concept. The clothing here will be crucial. So you should definitely go with the cloth/mechanical look we discussed earlier. The flute could also look good with some machinery twist. Try to look up for steampunk pictures of cloths and instruments, the guys outhere have amazing ideas. I am sure they will help you

I'd focus more on the face, since that is the hardest part of the female and then nitpick the anatomy once I had some armor and maybe a pose.
If she isn't beautiful face-wise the body won't matter.Trust me.

the face seems better now :) at least from a distance we didn't get close up this time :)
i'd apply eyebrows on her while sculpting coz it helps you to see her look during modeling time.. you can use masking for it or just put another model and sculpt it (you don't have to use it for baking just a placeholder)
btw iris on the eyeballs helps you recognizing a face more clearly. so exept using only a sphere as eyeballs you should modell the iris and pupil into the sphere almost like at real sculptures
without the iris and the eyebrows sculpted onto this sculture (right side, original) it didn't have a "look" it'd rather just look dead (right side)

and just like others have said before: if you model chicks, the face is very veeeeery important :D
and at every characters's face, eyes are really important..

this is coming along niceley :). but i would give her hip area a second look . it looks a bit strange. her but is sitcking out bit too much and her hips are too round.

paulius-st: yeah, that area causes a lot of headache for me. I have tons of references (yummy) but it still hard to get it right..
So I think this kind of a bit unnatural (cartoonISH) look could work. She a goddess why would she look like a mere human girl.. :D
so this dude is doing some cool work for DW now.. My goal would be make at least as good final entry as him/her so I'll be very slow indeed, but that doesn't mean I don't work my ass off with the model :D

this dudes avatar rocks :D . that boy looks like a soviet pionier ( similar toscouts in usa). i remember we had to go to school looking like that :D .
ok, about your model. it looks good enough but her nose looks strange - too pointy at the tip and too thin at the area above the nose tip. and it looks like there is a stick under her skin in that area. it should be smooth and not edged in there. try looking at my entie thread - i have some nice noses there :) . maybe it would help you in some way :)

Nose and knees both look wrong....
I would also look over they eye lids and perhaps add some tiny bags or something that defines her as a character. But you might want to keep her free from characteristics and make it perhaps a bit more immortal looking...

Coming along well. I have to agree with the others' sentiments on the nose. Its not a bad nose per say, but I think there's a better nose out there for her. Otherwise, face looks good. I think you handled the hair both interestingly, and in a way that's conducive to low poly. Figure is looking pretty good overall.
I wonder if she's not gotten a little too thin, but I wouldn't worry about that too much now, that's easy enough to fix later.

Nose is too small, the is an upper cavity to it (between the eyes)
Knee larger => use ref.
Upper part of trapezoid (back of the neck).

I think she will have some sort of paint/make up on her, which will have some sort of special look to it, so her face will defo have some character to it.

So I'm trying to make a humble face.... I should have picked god of anger, oull down the middle of the eyebrows, and be done with it... :D The smile will be reduced a bit before bakin / lowpoly stuff. Just for the sake of easier sculpting.
I think I'll try and keep the nose this small, and maybe pull up the chin + mouth so the face becomes a bit more rounded (childlike = innocent = good), and that way the small nose will work better.. anyway, old one on the left, new one on the right

I kinda like how she looks atm, but she has kind of a trickster look to her... Katy Perry has innocent / childish pics, maybe I'll modify this kind of face with that kind of "pose".

I'd say go for it and try to get a bit more expression into her face right now. Doesn't have to be an asymmetrical look, give her eyes a bit more attitude to them to help play up on the "trickster" look you're shooting for.
Doesn't have to be much, just a subtle tweak or two, but it'll probably help you out a whole lot on the entire sculpt. Looking great so far by the way.

Puckducker: Yeah I went with it, trying the expression.. The trickster look was an accident, but she is a goddess of humility, so I had to get rid of that. Now I think its petty "humble", and also neutral enough to texture/bake this way.
So I made her standing on her toes, because I don't know exactly how a feet looks any other way..
What do you think?

Nice update. Some more fat onto women's fatzone, or keep her juvenile? I point ears work, but it's WIP so.

But if you don't want to giver her that look, then no round cheeks.
You choose that, I'm not considering the "good" look in this case, it depends of your personal objectives.
But now if you want my personal opinion about the idea of giving her a childish look, I can think about it. :)

Nice sculpt! the anatomy is correct, but I think you should give her more gestures as if he felt the weight and gravity, try to relax the shoulders rotating them down a little bit and make her standing on her feet plants. and if you want to give to her some childish look you should reduce the breast and round the cheeks, buttocks and thighs, not too much.

Good progress man, some more fat on the underbelt of the belly, the buttock line a lill' bit more down (minus ~10%-15% height).

Only thing that's grabbing my attention is the ankles. They seem a little chubby. There's a bit of a roll in the front at the top of the ankle, and the bones one the side are a little thick looking as well. Otherwise the body is looking pretty good.

Did a quick paintover of Amanda Seyfried's face (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nh5LHjxx4fg/TX9hEQN1yWI/AAAAAAAAQLQ/l9PVi2-KT2g/s1600/RRH-27022.jpg) to give you some construction comparison to go by when correcting the face.
Choose her specifically because her primary lines are far from a picture perfect construction model, so you should get some idea of what you can tweak to get a more youthful face. Plus, she has one of those unique faces that already looks stylized.
I also put in a couple light landmarks to look for, but nailing the facial triangle should be your primary goal.

If you can block these shapes relationships a little better, then go in and start refining the details, you should see some dramatic improvements.
A few things to fix on your model:
- Cheeks are too high up.
- Aside from being wider, the nose needs to go up more into the eye region. Right now it's starting on the same line as the lower eyes making it look way off.
- The mustache region (idk what else to call it) sinks in too much, push it out some.
- Get those eyebrows arching further up, nothing sells a womanly face more.
There is definitely more, but this should be a good starting point. I'm sure a lot you can pickup on from just the picture.

boobs will be fixed, since I modeled them "hanging" and now I realize they will be covered so their shape will be a little bit more rounded. first ides with the clothing... wanna make the back to show lot of her, because I think thats a surprising element in a turntable video, when you would expect her backside to be covered as much as the front, and she uncovered ;)

I took a look at the techno nurse on the Making of's in the main site in order to fix my anatomy, the volume on the arms add a lot of "movement and action" feeling to the sculpt even on the base pose. It's worth taking a look.
Anyway, it might look strange in a younger body, your decision!
I like this wip a lot, great ideas and tips.

in the hair it was based on a lotus yes, but I wasn't following it strictly, added some jewels and stuff. The necklace is some kind of a flower/sun symbol.. just made it, and I think I'll stick to it :D
