Woo! SnappedStrings is back baby! I been away all year training for the big competition and now I'm back with keener senses, a broader arsenal, and a need to kick some DW butt.
Place holder for now, finishing up midterms and spring break is next week. So I'll be working feverishly on my DW entry.

Okay quick update to fill in the backstory.
At the dawn of time, the earth was crafted of earth and water, baptized in the fires of heaven and hell. It grew abundant with plant and insect life, flourishing into a beautiful garden-earth. The silent earth slumbered and flourished for millenia, until the Lord of Flesh, the defiler of worlds, the un-maker, crafted the first beasts to walk the surface of the sleeping world.
To his dismay, the animals evolved and shifted and began to harmonize with the garden-earth. Thus, he poured all his malice, his cruelty, his hunger, and his cunning into his greatest creation: humanity. And as expected, they spread across the garden world as a virus, consuming everything in their path.
It is from the flesh lord that all living things have come, and to him all things will return.
Concepts to come soon.

I was hoping for nakedness, when I read flesh.

Okay, here's some very early concept art which is still subject to major changes, so I'm really depending on your comments and crits.
Also, Toe, I shoulda known that was coming :-P.
If you look close at the concept, I'm sure there's something dirty in there for you. Atleast one teste somewhere :-P
Edit: Updated the first concept for readability.

I gave a couple other people some critiques and decided to take some of my own advice so as not to lock myself in too early. So I got a little more exploratory with my concept.
In the first one, I envisioned him as a sort of giant flesh golem. His club arm is made of throbbing veins and living tissue. With it, he consumes his enemies alive, devouring them slowly over time.
The second one I see as a tower of living flesh. Atop the tower, entombed and enthroned, is the Flesh God. All along the sides of the tower are the bodies of the damned, clawing and trying to escape. This is sort of inspired by a sculpture I saw, that I can't seem to find an image of anywhere online.
Third is another sort of flesh golem, this time made of the faces of people. The idea here is really to push the idea that he is made of their tortured faces.
Lastly, I decided to go in a really different direction and think of him more as a man. In the sketch he's doing a sort of leather-face thing, wearing someones face as a mask.

I was really liking what you were looking at with your sketches in post#4, giant carnivorous plant lookin' thing. That seems really unconventional and a nice change of pace from all the armor clad warriors and horned demon-beasts we're gonna be seeing. Doesn't hurt to explore more, you can always come back.
Of the last group of sketches, i think #1 is the most interesting, and I'm not keen on #4, something about the incarnation of living flesh, wearing someone else's flesh doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, Warlock. I really liked number 4 too. But I didn't want to be wondering if I wouldn't have come up with something that worked better.
Here's another concept piece. This one is a companion for the concepts in post #4. Just an exploration of what the body is going to look like, at the point where he comes out of the mass of flesh.

God of flesh has to be a big veiny mass of meat with toothed vaginas and tentacles, its just a fact.

I'm glad we're on the same page, poo

You can do a lot of texture work with this guy with different ethnicities patched or sewed onto his body. Also on the model (just a random thought) you could have boobs placed in random locations. I think this will be an epic piece can't wait to see a bit more.

"The Flesh Lord", so many possibilities, not enough phallic appendages! Very interesting indeed!

Here's yet another concept sheet. I think the reason I keep doing so many is that I'm not 100% sure as to how this character is going to look when I finish it, so I want to keep pumping concepts til I nail it down.
In the first one, I was thinking of incorporating arms into the tentacles, as the torsos of his consumed foes became part of him.
In the second one, I'm still kind of exploring alternatives to the giant tentacle beast. But it's totally generic and uninteresting.
3 and 4 are just concepts of proportion, to try and figure out how big he should be.
C & C welcome.

number 3's proportions look right to me :D

i would say something betvien 3 and 4 cause both have weird proportions and a compromise betvien both of them would be perfect :) .

I would say #3 but make his "torso" and shoulders a bit larger. Lots of super muscles too, he is a god after all.
Cheers~
Edit: Additional thought, what if at the ends of the vines faded into the torsos of the men? His servants reaching outward to craft as their master commands?
I like the most recent concepts and I would have to agree somewhere between 3 and 4 also would be great, I will keep watching to see the updates.

Hey, thanks for the input everyone. I totally agree, I think somewhere between 3 and 4 would be good, probably closer to the 3 side.
Novian: That's similar to an idea I had before, and I think I will probably go in that direction. While I think the 3 torso idea is cool, it seems somehow awkward, and the number of polys needed would be a big hit on my poly count. Thanks for your crit!
Below is my latest concept for torso's.
ATM, I'm pretty much sold on number 5/6, which are just variations on the same, but I'd still really like to hear everyone's input on the others. Let me know what you think!
I'll be concepting heads next.

i'd say No2 with these human bodies from No5. it would look different and original. as for No5 and No6 - am i the only one to see some inapropriate parts where the head sholud be??? :D

I'm thinking 6 with the belly from 4. Also I would be interested to see what a few but not all of his fingers from the larger hand have the vine like length to them. I'm reminded of those pictures of people with SUPER long finger nails, those always freak me out. Something like that might be worth looking into.
Perhaps with the large hand you could have his thumb be a vine and his other 4 fingers be two small/rough humanoid torsos with their arms acting as his fingers. Sort of like what you have in 5 but I would move (break) the neck/heads to be more on their backs, this would help reduce some poly usage and add to the "eww" factor, which is good. :)
Nice work, looking forward to more.
Cheers~

Between 2 and a 5/6 mix.

6 is most interesting with the vines going every which direction.

5 and 6 have a more rippling flesh feel to it. It's a good idea to have something that is fleshy but does not entirely have to be ruled by the human form. I like the idea of having something humanoid with partial human features (like 5 and 6) and wild creeping flesh.
