Hi guys! The God I'm going to create is violent and evil, he uses wrath and fear as weapons to cause suffering and death. I'll show you soon ...

Nice starting concept, looks really malevolent. Maybe a good idea would be to give him lots of scars and cuts and stuff, as if to say that he loves violence so much he has a sort sado-masochistic personality and enjoys causing pain even to himself. Also, it might give further impression that he is the god of violence, as if he were slashed in combat or something.

Looking forward to concepts, nice work

Rad sketch. I like how the face tapers from light to dark as it moves toward the back of the head. Very cool, definitely looking forward to seeing more of this guy.

Fantastic start to the sculpt. Already has a ton of character.

I'm wondering why this rocky character would need armour, he looks extremely tough already.

I agree... his "flesh" looks pleanty tough enough to me... I would sculpt out the whole body then decide on armor after you have the body...

Here we are, I started working on the character's blockout jumping from ZBrush to topogun and finally Maya. So this is what I've got so far.
I'm planning to add more stuff on top of the torso...

I suppose the only suggestion I have is that I'd probably explore having those sharp points off the armor twisted so that they stick into his skin. But they look really cool as is.

On the armor I mean. Like the topology of the shoulder.

Not as slow as me and my design is simpler than yours!

Anyway, like the blade idea. Any prop that animates, in my opinion, is bonus points in this comp.

The sculpting's still awesome. The spikes, however, look soft and blobby, though I'm sure you can fix that up.

The blade is really cool too, reminds me of all the retractable parts on SlipGate's N0X character.

I see only one "problem" and that is that the current armor configuration is always reminding me of Imrod (http://www.gameartisans.org/dominancewar/images/Support/imrod.jpg).

If you don't mind I will post a sketch of an idea or two to overcome this (without losing stuff) tomorrow morning.

Puckducker

Great looking sculpt, really selling the rocky look. I feel like the transition from the shoulder down to the forearm could use some work, I would think there could be more definition in how the rock becomes less dominant, rather than just fading out.

Great stuff overall though.

Looks good, I dig the face! General proportions and the hands look great as well :)

Perhaps deepen the cracks and make sure to go over the rocks with the polish, perhaps with an alpha applied...

@ koyima: you are damn right! for this reason I decided to model the armor in maya as an hard surface in traditional way (everything has to be topologically precise).
And if you want to post some sketches you are always welcome!

here are 2 solutions... personally I prefer the second one!

Cool, so this means you go away quite a deal from your original thought of him as god of violence, or has he just grown more refined?

I just wanted to change some basic concepts that I had for the "God of Violence". From the start I thoght to represent him as an asymmetrical composition of two simple metaphors of fear and wrath, one on the right arm and the other on the left arm, on the right the weapon was a hammer (wrath) and the other one a kind of sword-arm (fear). Now the character is symmetrical and he brandishes a sword that splits into two smaller swords.
I'll show you soon...

Aha, so that's why ;P Seems this one really turned out to be almost solely a sculpting challenge for you then...

Epic end result but to be honest I thought the diffuse was a bit flat and to washed out in a way, too bad with such a great model, but I guess it was an issue of time.

wow, first of all your character looks great and I'm sure it helped that you started off with some very good and solid concepts.
My favourite part is the head, there is a lot of detail and the eyes really bring life into the character. I love what you've done with the back of the head too, he looks so damn cool; though I still don't think I would want to meet him haha
Also I like the idea behind the sword splitting off into 2 swords, it looks good though I have no doubt if you'd had more time you would have added even more detail to them?

well done!!
