Decided I would give DW a shot this year, even if I think I'm out of my depth.
I have a few rough ideas of what I want to do but nothing solid yet so will add some new info, and a name for my god, soon.
Good luck everyone and may the force be with you ;)

Finally found some time to get together a few images and made this scrapbook of ideas taken from random searches on google.
I think my Goddess will definately lean towards the evil side of temptation and not just a filthy looking slut. I have a basic idea of how she will appear but can't make my mind up just yet, so nothing set in stone.
Choosing to make the Goddess of temptation leaves the door well and truly open in terms of making her sexy, alluring, somewhat demonic and have I already mentioned sexy?
I'm not very good at sketches and after several bad attempts to draw something that wouldn't get moved to another forum or banned, decided that I should stick to just padding out a rough idea with other peoples ideas. For the time being anyway...
So, I welcome your suggestions ;)

A few more ideas fore my Goddess.

I have been trying to pad out some sort of story to inspire me in my design and this is what I came up with:
Staring at the ships VDUs in front of him, Adam gazed longingly at the place he used to call home. He couldn’t help thinking that it was turning faster than ever before, but although it did turn as if to embrace what remained of the warmth emanating from the Suns smouldering fires, the Earth stood still. Raped of all resources and stripped bare of its soul, there was no life on the planet. Unable to restrain or stem the germ-like infestation of man, Mother Nature had collapsed in defeat. She could no longer heal her bruised and betrayed heart and as the fires raged and the elements duelled, she slipped, exhausted and broken, into the retreating oceans. Mankind had left itself no alternative but to abandon its home and journey into the unknown in search of new planets to feed its hunger and satisfy its insatiable greed.
From the cockpit of his spaceship, Earth looked sad and desolate. The vast forests, along with the flowing rivers and tumultuous seas that once covered most of the surface, had all but disappeared. Centuries of war had levelled the great cities that once echoed with the voices of angels and all that remained were the charred remnants of lost civilisations. Mans beliefs were shattered and faith in the Gods was all but a whisper.
Adam sat in darkness. He flicked on the digital journal to check the mission brief. He had collected the minerals that he needed and was to set a return course, back to the colony. The lights on the control console pulsed softly like a neon heartbeat and staring at the screens made his mind ache and his eyes heavy. The journey from Opus7 had been long and lonely and despite the command chairs uncomfortable nature, he found himself drifting into a deep sleep.
As he walked towards the forest, Adam caught a glimpse of a face peering out from behind an apple tree so large that its branches were like the arms of a giant. He was sure he had seen the face a hundred times but regardless of her familiarity, he did not recognise her. A name caressed and soothed his tongue and flowed through his very being, yet he could not speak any words nor make any sounds.
Rays of sunlight pierced the forest canopy above and poured golden rain down upon her milky white skin. She was beautiful beyond belief and her bosom pushed heavily against the delicate linen that draped across her chest. As he moved towards her she extended a slender but deliberate arm in his direction and as she unfolded her fingers Adam could see that cradled in her hand, was a box of irregular charm. It glowed dimly in the shadows of the forest and Adam was instantly drawn to it. He could hear it calling out to him and the more he tried to resist its pull the more it demanded his attention, and like a moth to a light, he was lost to its power and her beauty. He wanted her and desperately desired to know what secrets were held within the box.
He edged closer and with each step forward the box in her hand glowed brighter and, along with its bearer, it grew in size. He could feel the grip on his soul tightening and pulling him, luring him infinitely closer. As he moved into the light the box began to open and the woman stepped out in front of him. Instantly a chill crept up his spine. It dawned on him that he had been deceived. Whatever this creature was it was not human and it was hiding behind a mask held in place by a writhing serpent. It twisted its bulging coils along a staff of bones that was finished with a glistening razor-sharp blade. Slowly she lowered it to reveal her hideous and demonic features. Adam tried to back away but he was frozen, unable to move from her path. The creature let out a rapturous shriek that shook the forest, forcing him to his knees. The box was now emitting a light so bright that he had to shield his eyes with his hand, and as he tilted his head backwards to absorb the scale of the creature and look upon this goddess of evil, she spoke.
“I am Sala, Goddess of Temptation. You, like so many before, have failed. You are weak and have learned nothing from the exploits of man. You want that which is not yours and have a thirst that cannot be quenched. Your greed is your undoing and for that you will be punished”.
She raised the serpent staff high above him and before he had a chance to beg for mercy or forgiveness she brought it down upon him with godly power. His body lay broken on the forest floor. The serpent began to unravel itself, its eyes full of intent, and before the last breath had left Adams body they began to feast on Adam’ corpse...
Adam awoke in a cold sweat, his heart was racing. A flickering blue dot had appeared on the VDU and the readout indicated that the scanners had picked up a life form on the Earth’s surface. Once again, a shiver spread down his back. Nothing survived on Earth and he checked the ships log to confirm it. He was still shaken by the lucid dream and contemplated what this meant. Was his mind playing tricks on him or was this the devils doing? Adam slowly punched in the co-ordinates. His orders were to return to Opus7 but he was ahead of schedule and knew that a few more days would not hurt. Curiosity and temptation, it seems, had taught him nothing...

Interesting idea, I enjoy the almost hexidecimal like idea of multiple faces. I think it'd be great to build off that, around the entire character. The pandora's box idea seems to be a little one off at the moment, it'd be cool if you could integrate that a bit more, though I'm not sure how.
Good start though, your reference board seems to have a good range of styles to build from.

THanks for feedback. I tend to agree with you. I thought the Pandoras box was a little to 'Old Hat' but I'm struggling to find an alternative. I wanted to utilise the 3dtotal logo and build the box around that but still not completely happy as it's an item used in many different things already. It needs to be something aluring that symbolises temptation as the Goddess probably wont be enough on its own.
Hopefully I can find something more suitable as the project develops though

A few quick weapon ideas. I think they need some trinkets and extra detail but just trying to decide on a general shape and style.

1 or 4, like the lill' snake symbol.

Don't worry if you feel that you're out of your depth in this competition. I feel the same way but it's a challenge to yourself. It'll help you grow and it should boost your confidence. It's basically a learning experience. Just enjoy the ride.
Anyway, in regards to your weapons, why not combines three of your designs together and make it a kick ass weapons. You can even use the blades from the other concepts as ornamental designs for your weapon. It's just a matter of experimenting and layering shapes on top of each other.
Good luck and I hope you get your concept looking kick-ass!
Perhaps give her a hood connected to a sexy, revealing top....

Thanks for your feedback, it's much appreciated. I like the hood idea and she will definately be somewhat risque in the clothing department. Not sure how to combine the weapons, and my perspective sketching is pretty poor so maybe I will do that in the modelling phase.

you could put the threedy logo on weapon number 1 :P and a snake over it

I like weapon 1 the most so far and will try the 3DT logo on it to see how it shapes up. Thanks LB

Quick sculpt on a base mesh to get some proportions.
Cs+Cs invited please.
I think her knees may be a little low or her lower legs too short
31-03-2011, 10:30 PM
Ya, I think you're right about the legs being a little short, and I think its compounded a bit by the torso and arms being a little long as well.
I hope you don't mind, I made a couple tweaks that I think will get you going in the right direction, could probably still tighten up the proportions a little further, but its a start. [shorter torso/arms, longer legs]
I notice a lot of your reference, are really tall figures. What I did is based off 8 heads, you could probably push it more to 9 or 10 if that's the look you want, but I think it'd be best to get "realistic" foundation, and then exaggerate from there.

Yeah now you mention it, her arms are wayyyyyyyy too long. The edit you made makes her look much better. Thanks for that, I will make some tweaks and re-post shortly

Just playing around with an idea for my Goddess, thought I would share where I am at right now

Close-up of the face

soooo, you want to know a way to make your character look god like?
try playing around with proportions. Most people go with the 7/8 head tall body. But if you push it, and go 9 or 10, it will make your character look "bigger" it's what they do with comic book characters.
Another thing you can do as far as scale goes is play with the base your character needs to be on for the final entry renders. You can place objects that most people would understand the size of, having your character towering over it. So if your base was a mountain, and your character was sitting on it, then she must be pretty darn big.

Love the reference sheet! Careful with jumping up levels too quickly as well. And like BigToe said push it! Gl
