Dominance War V - 3D - Sadame, Goddess of Fate - Vinsanity

Just claiming my space. I really wanted to have a concept finalized by now, but it appears it's not in the cards. Not too worried about catching up time later during the 3D modeling and sculpting though. But I definitely don't wanna rush through the concept right now. So getting that to somewhere where I'm happy is priority no.1

Here's a quick Print Screen from my facial model sheet in progress. Since I'm not finalized with the whole character yet, I figured I'd leverage my time now by focusing on the face and hands. Since I draw, and model, those separate and attach them to the model later, I figure I can start on these and buy myself more time to work out the concept for the rest of the character.

Still, I hope to get the concept done - as well as model sheets - sometime this week. *fingers crossed*

I totally agree that it's more important to be happy with your concepts first. It would be more costly to waste time figuring stuff out int eh modeling or sculpting phase.

I'll admit, I don't have a problem if her facial proportions aren't 100% ideal, since she's a goddess, not a human. If she ends up looking a little stylized, I'm cool with that. That being said, I always appreciate comments like that, so I brought the construction model you gave me into photoshopped and took a look at it:

I brought the neck out and fixed the base of her skull. I ended up looking at the lips, but decided I liked how I had it before. I noticed the nose is more pronounced in your sheet from the side view, but since she's supposed to look asian, I'm happy with the "flatter face" (although I may be exaggerating it, I'll admit). Other than that, I actually think she matches up pretty nicely so far. I'm happy with it.

So while I continue to dick around with the body design, I'm jumping into modeling her head and hands.

I also have to figure out her hair style. I actually whipped up something, but I ended up not liking it. I won't embed it here because it's enormous. I've changed my photobucket settings so that I shouldn't do that again, like the first pic in this thread. Alright, time to post some updates. But I am WICKED BEHIND my loose schedule, so...y'know. Leave critiques - go for it, that's cool. But I am not going to listen to much because I gotta kick this low poly model out. Jeez, i'm so behind, I'm modeling and doing the model sheet almost at the same time! Anyway, progress:

The main reason I've fallen behind is because I had trouble wrapping my head around what, exactly, a "Goddess of Fate" would look like. I mean, what icons and symbols scream "fate" to people? So here's the WIP model sheet that I may or may not even finish at this point. I have an idea for a visual, and don't wanna draw it - simple as that.

She's got a yin-yang inspired 'do, a sun/moon tat on her face, some coins coming off her arms somewhere, an angel/devil shoulder pad - all that is stuff I think, visually, relate to fate. As in, "what is your fate?". The main visual I'm looking to incorporate are branching tattoo things. They'll actually come off her body which is why I do not want to draw anything on the model sheet. The reason is because your fate isn't determined - there are many, many possible futures for people. So I'd imagine a Goddess of Fate would have many, many branch-y visuals. I opted for tattoos. That come off the body, and form sort of...glowing wings?

Small, horrible update. My computer basically has been out of commission for the past 3 weeks-a month or so. A combination of trojans, a hijacker and plain ol' dust wrecking my 5-year-old+ laptop (massive overheating). Trying to fix it in my free time took awhile, as did finally giving up and taking it someplace once I had the money. While all is good now, it goes without saying that I am definitely not going to be able to finish this in time. I'll probably still finish the model someday, as it looks pretty damn nice right now. But no way will I be able to finish this in time for the due date.

The last time I worked on this, three weeks ago, I had "finished" the hair. Since I've been spending my laptop-less weeks replaying Tomb Raider Trilogy and Heavenly Sword on PS3, I've been noticing that I should probably remodel a good chunk of my character's hair. Namely the whole back/bottom portion. Also, I have to do a tad more in general, but the low poly's pretty much done. Down to the teeth and mouth sac in her head. I wish I at least would've gotten farther, let alone finished. But I digress, here's the last progress shots I'll upload.
