Probably won't have time to do much with this as I'm out of the country for three weeks, but I wanted to do a god of a specific people rather than of an aspect / attribute.

I was thinking vaguely Egyptian / Alien in a slightly Stargate fashion, and had the idea of an alien God/king mounted on a sphinx type creature.

Here's a couple of half hour zbrush sketches to get the ball rolling - one is of a cat type head for the sphinx mount, the other is a starting point for an alien pharoah type guy.

I think the next step might be zsphere armatures for the full cat and rider.

Latest update - headless sphinx body.

I was thinking of going undead on this originally, but the more I think about it the more I like the idea of a more solid big alien cat creature rather than bones. Any thoughts? I think something with some flesh would look a bit more like a deity. Pseudo Egyptian / alien armour on there maybe.

Supremely annoying - my zbrush trial just ran out. I'm sure I had until early may. £550 I ain't got, so maybe next time.

That's no good. You thought about using an alternative? Zbrush isn't the only sculpting app out there.

I'm sure there's trials for Mudbox and 3D Coat. I'm doing all my sculpting in Blender, and there's also SculpTris. While I'd be hard pressed to say either of the latter two lives up to Zbrush, they can both get the job done.

Or you can do it old school, and model it all the hard way, or paint everything and use bump maps [did that myself for DW3 and DW4].

You might be able to ask Pixologic for a 30 day extension. SInce the comp still has about a month to go anyway, you could still have a chance. Just plead your case.
