Alright so i'm starting a bit late but i'll get through it! I am a 3D Animation student just out of school and stumbled on the Dominance War website. I thought it was extremely cool and wanted to participate in it. So here we go!

I will be animating Boofis (Modeled by: foreverendring)

Made the rig.

My storyboard is really messy and so i will clean it up before posting it.
I animated a walk cycle and tested 3 of my shots. Blood will be dripping and spreading on the ground as he walks
Things to change:
- Axe needs to drag on it's side
- The pulling of the axe should be less constant

Here is the second pass of my animation.
I will change how he slides since he would normally fall face first.

Hey, this is awesome!

Looks pretty good so far. Only crit I've got is be careful with your camera work. Lots of cuts in a short period are one thing, lots of cuts to moving cameras in a short period, are another, especially when they're all really tight shots.

Particularly I'm having trouble following the whole bit where he tosses the axe up in the air, and then jumps on it. First watch I wasn't sure what had happened, seemed almost as tho he tripped and the axe went flying. I'd suggest a wider framing for that shot.

Overall the animation is looking pretty good so far. And I think the god of insanity is a perfect choice for that model.

Thanks Warlock 279 for the constructive feedback. Now that i look at it, you're right that it looks like he trips and not throwing his axe. I'll make sure to fix that and go over all of my shots.

Here is my fourth pass of the animation. I also tried a different approach on the ending but I'm not satisfied with the result. I will most likely go back to slashing the camera instead.

I like it but I think you could lose one of the walking scenes when, it eats up time but doesn't really add anything to the overall animation.

I like it but I think you could lose one of the walking scenes when, it eats up time but doesn't really add anything to the overall animation.

For the walking scenes there will be blood dripping/pouring from his axe and creating a blood trail on the floor. That's why there is a lot of walking.
But i will try and cut one of the walking scene to see if it's better.

Here is a test of the earth breaking. I will add bits flying in the air also and smoke if I'm allowed. Not sure if we're aloud to have smoke in the animation, but if it's behind the character it should be fine.. i guess

Here's another progress video. The part where he slashes the camera bugged and so i will have to redo it. Bad thing is that the video is 4 seconds too long!

Looks really good. The camera movement seems seamless with the characters movement.

you can easily gain more time by shortening the text animations and lengthening the last cut scene that ends by zooming into the monsters eye.

Other than that everything looks good.

@ E4sY: Thanx for the feedback =)

@rocneasta: I will lengthen the end by shortening the titles a bit. Thanx for your opinion.

@DeadlyFreeze: The second walking part will be cut out since it doesn't really bring anything to the animation. Thanx for the thought.

Hello Man !! it looks very very good, the only shot that i dont like is on sec12 where he is too far away from the camera, maybe you shoud change that shot . . but you know it is just my opinion! ! :)

In this update i cut out the second walk scene, shortened the titles and lengthened the end. It fits in 20sec now =) I might change around the beginning part to have a better fit.

@Vitrux: I'll see how it looks with a closer shot instead.

@capitan_popo: hahaha

Sorry i haven't posted in a while, i was in my final week of school and there was just so much work to be done. Here's the demo reel i was working on if anyone is curious. I also added my dominance war animation in the beginning, it's not much different from the one i posted earlier but there's some minor changes and added sound effects.

<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Fe3WLviIzFg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Now that i'm finish school i can concentrate on the contest again!

I think for a demo reel it's a good idea to put your info at the end (website, contact info, name, that sorta stuff) that way is someone watches it and likes what they see at the end they can instantly know how to get to you!

WHAT PROGRAM ARE YOU GUYS USING!?!?

I would love to be able to animate my models, but right now, i'm stuck with moving them MYSELF, 1 frame ata time, and taking a snap shot...

PLZ Help.... (free programs) - Im broke.

@Pockets: Great idea! I'll make sure to add it.

@Creator: Thanx man =)

@IronPatriot: I'm using Maya 2011 to move/rig the character and then Premiere and After Effects for compositing. Unfortunately they're not free =p
