Hi All,

Rather than words I thought we would show you in pictures, 3DTotal staff selected their top 10 from each category (2d & 3d) to forward onto the Atomhawk team to choose the final winners next week.

Please see the last 2 photos to see the finalists, we made our selections on quality or artwork, concepts and successful presentation of a film poster which included things like typography and conveyance of message.

Many thanks to all who entered, it's been a great challenge with a very high standard of entries. Stay tuned to this thread for the final announcements!

Congratz guys .... and truly good luck in the next phase of judging !!!!!

.... looking at the artworks here I think its obvious that there is no way that i could be in the top three pool when the Atomhawk guys comes in ... Heh heh !!! ..... So im expressing myself here .....

First thanks Tom-3DT for being so helpful in the discussion thread throughout the challenge ....

and that was my first digital painting that I have actually completed and finished ...... So its a huge privilege that it was judged by a leading CGForum in the industry ..... and actually made it to the top 10 .... So big thanks and a hug to everybody at 3D Total .... I think I should continue learning with your E-Books .... I would be able to get my hands on the "Futuristic Soldiers" by next week ... YEAH !!!!

Wow, this is awesome!

I just want to say how much I have enjoyed this comp. It has made me push myself to improve and at the end of the day, thats what its all about.

Ipranawake, dude your in the top 10 you never know what the judges are looking for so just wait and see. But the way I see it the fact that this comp has motivated you to finnish your first painting, and that painting got through to the finals when the standard was so high, That's an awesome prize in its self. So congrats :D

For me its the first time I have entered a comp and the first time I have done a fantasy landscape. I just think its great that the comp pushed me to try something new, and I really enjoyed doing it. Already started another one!

But yeah, well done to everyone who entered and good luck to everyone left in, looking at the top 10 entries, Im glad im not a judge!

I'm very sorry Bender-Man your final entry didn't show up properly in the final entries thread because of the way you linked to your final and wip image and therefore was missed. In future please use the forum attach method and make sure they show up.

Apologies again for this but the comp management is a lot of work for us and we cant check broken links, or download large images from other sites, so we really need the competitors to make sure everything is 100% ok.

hey, you can't imagine how happy I am right now! :D thank you so much 3DTotal, wacom and atomhawk - it's really an honour to see my work together with all the other awesome pictures!

and Fri94 is right: for me this is just like getting a prize. not even one minute I expected to be in the final three but that wasn't my goal - I wanted to paint, try my best, learn something and hopefully finish it in time :) was a lot of fun!

now I wish good luck to everybody, stay motivated and creative and hope to see you in the next comps.

Please do not give me that , every single link in the WIP is the same but in the finale thread somehow media-fire do not work ?? and only for the last few days. I show my work and every thing was fine so please do not make me look stupid.
I suddenly forget how to link images. I even change png to jpg for quick load after message from nano.uk the13 and there are gone !!!!
Every link is change for download.

"check broken links" !!!! links are ok, you do not want to tell me that you printer print from screen ?? You download every single poster but my was broken??

/Edit/
I leave this and the final entry post every body can check if the link is Broken.

not speaking for Tom or any of the 3DTotal staff, but you didn't do anything according to the rules...

You should have posted 1 WIP sheet - you just linked your WIP thread
You should have posted 1 Final image - you placed it on a share server for download

Another thing i found faulty is you actually didn't show how you did the image - you already started with a hat on a character with the mask and sun glasses. Proper way of presenting your work in 3D is showing it with wires, process of getting build, clay renders etc. This could have easily be just simple photoshop work and nothing else - which doesn't fall into 2D nor 3D category...

No hard feelings but we all live and learn - i left it all for the last day, didn't count on going to hospital and was late with the final entry about an hour... But i'll patiently wait for another competition while working hard.

Hey Blender-Man, I understand how disappointed you must be and I am very sorry about that. Here's a screen grab of your final entry post, you can see clearly how the judges would have missed it as there are no images showing up in it. If you want to talk about it more you are welcome to pm me but as far as the discussion goes in this thread please consider this the last post on the subject. When entering competitions you have to check and double check you have presented everything correctly as its your responsibility and not the responsibility of the judges to follow links and download files from other third party websites on your behalf.

I think what you did was link to a download feature on the media site you were using rather than direct link the image. In the wip thread you linked directly to the images correctly but you did it differently in the final image thread for some reason and that resulted in the broken links, if you click 'edit' on your wip thread posts and then your final image post you will see what I mean.

Edit by Tom

sorry to delete your post, as I said above we can only talk about this further by pm.

Due to UK national holiday you may not get a reply until Tuesday. Please don't post here again on this subject as I have already covered everything above.

Thanks

Tom

...

If you think that this can be Photoshop work I'm glad because thats mean this is very good 3D if you think it is photo;).
