My idea is to include fantasy with that theme; not just a human robbing a bank, but also the use of fantastical creatures.

Ah I see. So it's kind of a burglar troop. The only "problem" I see, which is in case not a real one, is that an orc is already supposed to rob a bank. Why not using something that tends to be good and unsupposed and let it rob that bank for example a tiny, beautiful pixie trying to move a golden bar.

Hhmm How about this:
There was a man, an ugly man. Short and full of wrinkles and imperfections, chubby and a little short but still strong. he was called "goblin Joe" by his "friends". His dream was to be an athlete so even if he was small and ugly, he was in great shape.
One day, he searches around for a way to change, and founds a beauty clinic that promises the cure to his fuglyness. After travelling there, the doctor tells him a price, but it is way too high for him to pay. With no other option in sight, he becomes a bank robber until he gets enough to pay the doctor.

The doctor marvelled at his robber skills, ask him to steal a couple items he will need to completely change him. and that's all I got.

A game about theft combined with a little bit of parkour starring a short ugly man

Not the best Idea probably, but I'm gonna throw it here anyway :)

It's not my proposal, Big Toe deserves credit for it :).

Second, I would say that as long as you can instantly see that its a bank robber it would be alright.
The idea from kogen sounds more like creating a scene, not a character. Of which I'm not sure if it fits in a game art comp.

Ojah: What I had in mind when I was writing this was a character and a prop in a specific pose, I guess that's not too hard for a game-art contest.

Kogen: How would you describe the brief for that? It still sounds more like a scene than a character contest to me.
(btw, it can of course be created in low poly (as can everything), but to me it doesnt make a lot of sense in making it a game art comp, sounds more like a scultping challenge)

@Kogen - Alter Ego ie the hero's secret identity. Clark Kent for Superman, Peter Parker for Spider-man, Maxx for the Maxx... that kind of thing is an alter-ego. BUT an evil twin of a hero could be a cool twist too.

Id love some sort of super hero contest. I like the idea of genre swapping/time line shift. Which would open some great possibilities post apocalyptic Punisher or mid-eval Iron man.

We need some kind of incentives for people to start joining, there used to be tons of people joining this comps, but some how it has all died. I do it for fun and practice not the prices, but guess a lot of people don't see it that way.

ok, so here is the idea I'm having. I want the game art, concept and sculpting challenge to have the same theme. Why you may be asking. Trying to get more people into making art.

Drawing up a concept for your game art is a good thing. Sculpting to create a normal map, is a good thing. Having all 3 challenges using the same theme means you can submit each step in its own challenge.

The end result, you have 3 chances to win an award, and if we get enough people to join, you will have 3 chances to win prizes. Everyone likes prizes.

Doing a 3 challenge theme also means we need to wait a bit longer to start the next challenge. Need to let the current challenges finish up first.

As long as we can get more people to join and a nice theme seems fine by me, current challenges end on the 19th (Sunday) so is not that long of a wait.

I was happy with the 18000 polygons. I would like 2048x2048 textures as well. But thats just me. Also some prizes would be nice. Even if it is just a t-shirt or something. This gives people more to work with. Just an idea.

Just to throw something out there for y'all. How about a creature mashup.

Take a cat and a bird mix them up and what do you have? Any two creatures (mythical or real) blend together so that elements of both can be seen but so they flow naturally together too... I call liger if it gets picked. :)
