Going down a stegosaurus route. Using some artistic license in making it a bit bulkier and the plate positioning. So far just conceptualising the creature. I'm thinking kind of tribal, stone age type riding accoutrements.

Nice concept, though it still looks like a stegosaurus :)

Interesting man. Now let's see where you take this!
Good drawing btw, can you share a little about how you draw and may be also a bit about how you have drawn the blades on it's back? ( structure inside it ) I will find it most interesting and educational =P

+1 on the good drawing :)
tribal stone age sounds awesome :) can imagine it with a tattoo down its side as clan marking :)
looking forward to see some modeling :)

Here's an update, should hopefully blast through it this week. Got the base mesh done today of the steg, still haven't decided upon the saddle/ accessories. Going to sculpt and retopo so all the cloned plates etc will be individual. At around 5,500 tris so far should have plenty for extras.
Also Mies: The drawing is done in photoshop using the standard brush, set so opacity is linked to pen pressure. Then just shading in different shades of grey. The blades were done the same way, the little cracks were drawn in black and then the edges highlighted with white.
Joshjamesh: Probably not going to do tribal tattoos since I think they look tacky, most likely go with dangly ornaments and clan markings on the accessories.

Here's a quick paintover of the direction I'm going in. May possibly add some kind of pack stuff to the back.
