Could we see a wire, would be interesting to me ;)

Can you explain me, how you can get on the car, after you put the smoth on it some hards edges?
The Nexus
27-07-2003, 09:58 PM
Aerics its all to do with cuts if youve got | then an inwards extrusion it will be very curved, however if you have || it will be almost a refined beveled line :)
Aerics

Can you show me plz a low ploy wire pic.
Radu3
28-07-2003, 03:51 AM
thakns guys
here is a wire with meshsmooth
Radu3
28-07-2003, 03:54 AM
for Aerics
this is if i just make the "light place" with no details, and apply a meshsmooth
Radu3
28-07-2003, 03:56 AM
now, i selected this edges
Radu3
28-07-2003, 03:59 AM
and chamfer them with 0,1, apply a meshsmooth and it looks like this
Radu3
28-07-2003, 04:15 AM
no, something is not good, the "light place" must be more roundest, for this you must to collapse some vertices like in image
Radu3
28-07-2003, 04:16 AM
now for the result
hope i explain good, and you understand :p

28-07-2003, 06:54 AM

awesome modelling im jus having some doubts.
How do you do the edges they look so fine, is only one mesh or is everything detached can we see a wire??

How do you do the edges they look so fine, is only one mesh or is everything detached can we see a wire??
every part of the car is made separatly, i began with a plan, that i extrude, extrude, extrude :D
i'll post a wire, but not now because i'm not in max :p
so, a little update,
ps. materials are just for test :)

Yay! That is great modelling.
Canīt see a single thing on the body that needs to be reworked.
Really awesome work!
One little thing:
I donīt like the rims that much though. Such a fine car deserves better. Iīm not critizising your modelling of them, but the style overall! Go for them M3 split rims instead. Thatīs what a beauty like this would need!
Now go on, model model!

Looks great, How did u get the reflection in the car but still have a black background? Ive been told there is an option in brazil that will let you do this but i cant find it.
droopdog
22-08-2003, 06:17 PM
very nice model, and i agree with henk about the rims!
btw lil question, how did you made the bottom grill? coz you can watch thrue it, i need to make a thing like that for my car(thread: miata or mazda mx5)
Radu3
23-08-2003, 05:53 AM
TigerDog , a use brazil for materials, rendering. The material->Brazil Advanced->Car paint->and in the Basic Surface Properties, in the Environment slot I put the HDR image
DroopDog , I made a box, I clone it for several times. I selected one box, add it a editmesh, and than I attach the others. After this I selected the vertex from up, and move them to the right(left). A mirrored the hole object and this is the result :)
ps. i don't know if this is the best method
Radu3
23-08-2003, 05:56 AM
the rim should look like this:???:

Radu, jantele trebuie sa arate ca-n imaginea pe care ai atasat-o. Am cautat imagini cu z4 si n-am gasit cu jante cum ai facut tu.
Per total arata super bine. Foarte bine facut!
Ai putea sa maresti view rate-ul la 40, ca se vede bucket size-ul la umbre.

droopdog
23-08-2003, 08:44 PM
that can take very long before i could post that, radu, coz my trial version of max is expired :(
Heretic
24-08-2003, 07:55 AM
The trial version of max can be legally reused upto 3 times, by changing back the date. Change the month to a previous months, and use it again. After 3 trials expirations, it goes off.
Another tip - you could use a pare partition for a windows98 or xp, and use it just for the max, and when the version expires, you can format the hdd and install the OS and then max again. It is the ultimate hardcore method for users who really want to learn to use it, and there is nothing wrong with it. It would take a lot of time and make you mad though :)
droopdog

Nice Work! Id love to see some close up wires.
smooth, clean, nice i wish I was as good as you man:grr:
Hey! NICE CAR!
I was modelling a few cars these last few weeks. Im doing pretty good except for a few major problems!
1) I make a plane, and extrude etc. But when i finish, and render the car looks FLAT. like a piece of paper car. But yours seems to have depth, even before u made the interior... how do you do that?
2) What method of smoothing are u using? When i use smooth, the edges get deformed and stuff, even when i use the "close-edge" technique!

Am I right in thinking you for the crease down the side you changed the edge weight rather than chamfering???

Also are the interior vents mapped or modeled?

hmm... I think your paint looks great, not the best, but good.. since your using brazil, why not use "brazil car paint"?
its really easy to use..
btw, I know u know, but just incase: the roof is supposed to be cloth not metal, right?

Your z4 is fantastic, possibly the best poly modelled car i've seen.
I started modelling the interior of my M3, its going ok but when i was modelling the inside edges of the doors I noticed how many creases and shapes there are, is the z4 the same???
Any tips or tutorials on interior modelling you've seen???

i really like the way you paid attention to details.
The sharp seams are absolutly perfect.
This is probably one of the best models that i've seen.
The way you've modeled this car is totally an inspiration for me.
Great Job!
Would love to see more of your work!
Take care
and best of luck!

oh yes.. I need advice, How do u make the corners that sharp??
I know that u probably use chamfer, but when I use it, I apply the smalles chamfer that Max alows me to make (about 0,01 units) but it just aint enough :( the edge still looks rounded.. any advice on that?

Unbelievable, I love it. I loved it so much that I had to make my own wallpaper for my new notebook.
Hope you donât mind me posting this on your own thread, but I was just awed over it.

Radu, your car looks amazing..
I'm beginning the same car now and I have a few doubts.
what technique did you use to model the rims?
and where did you get references for modelling the interior.?

L10N-Thanks man! :D go here and write "find by user" ->Radu3 and look every thread started by me :D
-I will explain how to make sharp edges in other post. ok? :D
Spawn4ever Hey, that's a nice wallpaper, how you said, kewl :p
nico3d -the best way to model rims it's spline mode, and after you made the primary form for this you go with editmeh
-i can't remember the link, but you can find it on page 5 or 6.
-and here it is the back, if you want a close one, just tell me :)
-I was to forget, good luck with your z4! :)
now my question,
Did you put your progress on threedy, Nico?

wow, thanks a lot radu !!
that image is excellent for me to study your wireframes. I'm having lots of triangles and they are not the best...
could you post another one of the back but this time not from above but focusing on the lower part where the exhausting pipes are?
I will start a WIP soon....I'd like to have more work done first....

You've done a fantastic job on the car! You're website is off to a decent start. The text is occasionaly hard to read (my moniter is dark so the black text on brown background gets a bit hard to read) and you need to reword a few things, like when i look at some of your pics, the information u've written to go with them refers to the pictures as bein above instead of below where they actualy are. Apart from that, keep goin at it! doin much beta then i was at 17. There seams to be an awful lot of code for each page tho. Anyway, congrats on the launch of your site :D
Keep up the good work.
