Not sure if I will finish this, but I thought I should try to enter :)

Looking for inspiration I remembered that the ConceptArt forums had a war cow challenge a long, long time ago and decided to head in that direction. I did a bit of searching for slightly more unusual cows rather than going for the traditional dairy cow and came up with some interesting cows from India. I've started modelling and this is where I have got to so far. Loads of polys still to use so once I've modelled the head I'll start sketching out the saddle and other accessories. I'm thinking I should keep it within the rough region that the cow is from when it comes to style too.

Let me know what you think

The fact that you are joining on itself is very cool, and you're off to a great start indeed! will look awesome when textured im sure ;)

Thanks :) A bit more progress and I think the base cow is done! Now for some accessories and with the current poly count standing at 3818 triangles I have plenty to work with

Hi Nick loving the war cow :)
Also loving the idea of keeping the cultural aspect alive to give it some flare specially with the colors, patterns and materials associated with India :)
Cant wait to see it when it is finished.

First go at a sketch over... Forgot most of the cultural stuff for this one and went pure fantasy instead. Will give it another go though!

Silly...

Last one for tonight and work tomorrow, so probably the last update until the weekend. Thinking I might stick with a more traditional fantasy mount though

I rli like both but the second one isnt very war cow more comfy cow lol :P

how about making the saddle a little smaller in the first one and adding the material under it as a comfort thing for the cow?also keep the flag :)

overall ignoring the name i like the comfy cow over war cow concept :) tho i think its the addition of the color and less brown that makes it more interesting :)

Bigger neck bell (rounder), and some more lill' ones.
And big skin drums on the back part.
And the cow more "fatsy" like with bigger ears, a tiny bit cartoon.

Just suggestives comments.

I like the idea of some big drums where the drum heads are made out of cow skin. I like the overall design of the war cow a bit more myself but maybe add some painted war symbols on the armor would make it more interesting.

I'm liking the first more war like design. If your going for a fantasy feel then possibly add some fur saddle pads since no saddle is every placed directly on skin due to chafing, and the fur would be in keeping with the theme. I do however like the bell from the second concept....so more cowbell!

Hi guys and thanks for the comments :) I ended up going away for some of the weekend and having to do chores for the rest of it so I didn't get the chance to make any progress.

I really like the drums idea and that could fit in very well with the more traditional fantasy armour approach. I'm hoping to have some time in the evenings this week so expect some updates soon!

Welcome to the party :)

Updated it a little this evening and I'm trying to keep things asymmetrical as much as possible whilst modelling the details. The big barrel shape will be a (dairy cow) skin drum eventually

Looks like I'm not going to finish in time due to work and life commitments. Hope everyone else can get their models done in time
