You are torn from a deep sleep, heart is racing. A cold sweat dripping down the full length of your face. You place your hand on your chest and take a small number of profound breaths trying to calm down. It doesn’t work. All you can think about while sitting there in the dark, is the disgust that woke you.

The screams, piercing even the deaf’s ears. No one is safe. Young and old alike, wakened from their slumber, all with no warning, no reason, just crying. Known for ripping open dreams and devouring the very meaning of happness. There is nothing anyone can do to stop it from happening. Caffeine is no use at all. Sleep will look for you, sleep will find you, and then the nightmares will get you.

DUE DATE: December 25th, 11:59 pm GMT - SUNDAY

Idea:

Create a nightmarish creature/character. This means you can model anything you want, real or fake. Only restriction, it must be scary. Let your imaginations run wild.

Poly limit:

18,000 Tris Total. You can do whatever you want with these, just don’t get carried away and don’t exceed the 18,000 Tri Limit. Remember, the limit tells you where to stop, there is no minimum, so use as much of the limit as you see fit.

Textures:

-1 x 1024 Color Map
-1 x 1024 Reflection Map
-1 x 1024 Specular Map
-1 x 1024 Specular Color Map
-1 x 1024 Normal Map
-1 x 1024 Bump Map
-1 x 1024 Opacity (transparency) Map
-1 x 1024 Glow map
-1 x 1024 Glossiness map.

You can not chop it up into multiple smaller textures.

Textures can be hand-painted or you can use photographic sources. Do what you do.


Pedestals/Stands:

You do not have to create one, but if you do, understand that there is no texture or tri limit. You can go as crazy as you want, or keep it basic.


Restrictions:

-Joint entries are prohibited for this challenge

-Your entry must be specifically created for this challenge. Do not use any pieces from previous personal works.

-There are no lighting restrictions.

-All Game/Render Engines are allowed.

-You must create a W.I.P Thread to show off your work in progress.

Final Pictures:

Required In The Final Post (1 post per entry):

- 1 x Winning shot. This image should consist of your object depicted in its most awesome angle.

- 1 x Beauty shot of your object. Feel free to put multiple angles of your object or just one big version or your object on this page. You are free to do whatever post effects you like on this image. Be careful how you do this though, simple is often better. It’s up to you.

- 1 x Construction shot of your object. Feel free to put multiple wire frame shots or just one big wire frame shot on this page. It is up to you.

- 1 x Texture sheet that includes all your used sheets squeezed into "one" sheet.

- Concept Sheet (if you have one)

I'm searching through the refrence folder right now, looking for ideas. My goal is to make poopipe crap his pants. Anything less than a blown out o ring is a failure to me.

Dont think a bust would be a Game Art thing. Im sure you could figure out how to make it into one though. Maybe like a haunted statue or something.

i know its hard to call bust a game art but i dont realy have enough time and patience to do a full character so i thought i would go for a low poly bust of some iconic horor character like couint dracula or frankenstein or something like that. so if a judge says i can go with a bust i will do one but if i have to do a full character i'll try to squise it in my sleeping time :) .

you can make a version of him. Make the head, then legs for a body, with a cape. Something like that.

I had one of them give my friend a hickey once. Man i should of saved that video and put it on youtube :)

Good brief Big-Toe, nice to see you liked my idea too :D

Hopefully I can scrape some time together and do something interesting, shame that we can't use 2k maps though :/ I'll just have to adapt though, won't I ;)

Are all those maps really necessary if we don't need them: such as glow, and bump?

especially bump since I will already have a normal maps, and I typically use cavity maps that are then merged into the occlusion and diffuse anyway?

took care of the spam

side note, I got carried away with my model, and the tri count. I guess 18,000 tris is too much. I was throwing this at my model to hit that number and never came close. The end result is a model that looks like I just threw stuff at it.

So, I'm backing up and trying again. I'm going to finsh this model, I might poopipe it a abit, but it will get finished.
