Just wanted to post my entry to the redbull cgi competition.
Worked on this for about 5 to 7 weeks (can`t remember exactly.)
I`ve used extremely simple props due to the time limitations and concentrated on camera work and geography of the piece. So no compositing, no raytraced shadows and barely any textures. I`ve typically used videogame techniques, for example the shadow under the cans are just flat poly`s with tga textures simulating shadows.
Motion blur was created using mayas default 2D motion blur settings, though this is prone to graphical peculiarities which involved a lot of image touching up in photoshop. In some cases I rendered scenes without motion blur and applied fake "radical blur" in photoshop.
Also used maya's toon outline which works quite well for that cartoon outline effect.
Whatever happen's I`ve enjoyed making this piece.
