Check out this coin I am working on...
you will see the Red/white stripes object getting rendered in the underbelly of the bullfrog.....
as you will see the white/blue stars passing through on the edge.. where the object clipping should of made the object hidden underneight the main top object... ... what a issue.
at first I thought it was just reflection... but it is the actual object that interfering with a proper render... ahh
none of my maps have transparency maps .... still trying to figure it out.

some detailing of displacement issues I am talking about and object that is getting rendered through...
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2466/coindefectsdisplacement.jpg
wow. such heavy subdivision makes it extremely hard on my computer..
I dare to bring the subdivision below 0.2 as things getting pretty lagged at that point... but I need extreme detail for a gold coin..
i tried to use the turbosmooth on Iterations at above 2+ during render and my system exception-ed out saying that I need 12gigs of ram etc etc... not good.. considering I only have 4gigs....
hmmm I am hedging on the notion that there are micro holes in the top mesh that are allowing the stars/white/red stripes to show through....but that is just a thought....

ohh wow. I think I got it solved....
seems that using a Circle that I then added the mod Cap Holes and then subdivided as the biggest problem that I was overlooking.
so what I did was I created a quad patch and then I subdivided.... . that I will crop into a circle.
the subdivision that you will see in the screen shot is soo perfect...
no issues as of yet. :) I was fighting with a circle where I should of started with a patch grid...

hope this will get it going with no shinny areas that are not conformed properly.

and another one... exposure control set on..
http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/7400/bullfroggoldcorp3drende.jpg
you will see that I started to work in some red and white glossy plasticlike details
very awful gold material.. and wow.. my lighting is all out of control... .need to reset the scene.... omg
I also put in some gold bar strips that separate the flag colors....
I am trying to make it so that the flag area colors (red/white) look like actual paint that has been added to the gold... so it has a "dish" to sit in......
I was thinking of using thinking particles and some fumefx/glue3d to the mix... or use a particle settling spray to fill in the dishs with a liquid...

What software are u using?
funny how a message that I replied with didn't show up...
hey i am using 3ds2012 64bit, Vray 2 as the render.
what I did as u will see from my now older posts that I fixed the glitches I was having in the subdividing...
** Big Trick **
Never try to subdivide a circle object as a base element that you want to eventually displace neatly.... it did turn out some very sweet looking images... and funny how I have yet to accomplish the degree of rendering...
as detailed .. I started off with a rectangle patch grid and it solved it. and I think just selected the inner verts and select invert / delete.. PooF.
perfect displacement....

this one shows the time it takes to render that little square on the right..... but also the detail on the smooth mesh vs the earily ones.
