these are some guns ive been working on for medal of honor

the first is a mauser kar98 rifle. there's already one in the game, but it's nothing like a real kar at all, apart from that its a bolt action rifle. the skin isnt final, the metal needs darkening and the wooden parts need to be totally redone [atm those are textured with noise thats been motion blurred 90 degrees].

and this is a colt m4a1/ris assault rifle. i know its a modern gun, and mohaa is a ww2 game, but its a new weapon at least. this one is over 3000 verts, but i should be able to get that down a bit. this was made in milkshape a few months ago, and i loaded it in max the other day to finally get it ingame

an uzi. this was one of the first gun models i made, also in milkshape [rendered in milkshape aswell]. the skin for this is the only ive ever done that i think looks good.

uzi:uv it properly...it looks like you jsut used the ms3d co-ord editor on a side on pic. change the position of it ingame as well, it would be laying down not standing up.

m4:3000?! Wait..verts?! DO you mean polygons?! If its polygons, re-do it that is WAY over for that detail!!! Fix the smoothing groups as well. Also, why import it into max to get it into mohaa? Its much easier to do game exporting in ms3d!

kar98:Hm...was this the axis bolt action? that one was realistic. I relaly hated all the models in that game. They all sucked. They used photoskins where you could see the seems in the skin easily. If you look on the allied machinegun, you can see on the main part you can clearly see a seam!

The M4 was 3000 verts, its around 2700 now tho. i think the guns that came with the game are around 1000-1500, so its not that high.
The uzi was mapped with the milkshape texture coordinator, i had no other way of doing it then. I might edit the uvmap, but im almost done modding for this game, you can't do much with the modding tools EA has released. The uzi is standing up ingame because it wasnt a useable weapon then, i just put it in a map as a normal model to check that the textures worked
The only way to export a gun into mohaa is either thru max, with the export plugins EA released, and theres also a plugin for Lightray 3D which is probably the better one of the 2.

the kar98 ive made is as close to the real thing as i can get it. i used a lot of photos and the day of defeat kar model to make it. i know some good skinners, so one of them should be able to give it a better skin. i think this gun is around 2500 verts aswell

No, you cna d/l a plugin for ms3d, well, actually i think its already built in to exprt to mohaa.

Why are you telling us in verts? DoO you mean polys?

the first plugin for mohaa was made for MS3D, but the only problem was that it couldnt export bones. so the guns didnt have muzzle flash etc, and you just had to guess which way the gun had to go. once you exported, ingame it appeared at any angle, and you had to keep randomly rotating it until it appeared right. the MS exporter was for .skb files, which are static models, eg a table or lamp-post. all weapons, player models, player gear, aswell as anything that has an animation uses .skd, which only 3dsmax or LR3D can export

anyway, the kar is 3036 polys, the m4 is 3163. these are supposed to be high poly models though, a normal moh gun is around 1000-2000 i think, so its not way over the poly count for the normal guns. i think i can still cut some down off the kar anyway, but i wanted these to be detailed, so they are. people have made guns with a lot more polys than these for the game
