The red bones are wobbling because IK is enabled on them - turn it off and the wobbling will stop. unticking "bone on" should do it

this is the main reason people use point helpers for this sort...

You can save your files from 2011 so they are compatible with 2010.
Just select 3ds max 2010 in the file type box of the save dialog window.

ahm u can just place the light a little higher, or you can completely exclude the floor from the light influence by using "exclude" in the "General" parameters of the light.
