Simple answer just youtube or google Unwrap UVW in Maya or eventually 3dsmax to see the principles. You can use other standalone software for Unwrapping as well.

Key point is to unwrap it evenly,...

No need to spend time if you don't have it. Only the hands were modelled separately since the client was so (to put it mildly) lost in the 3D that I just placed them on to save my time and effort....
