I'm thinking on D the Vampire Hunter, one of my favorite heroes.. i'm gonna keep this thread for progress updates for later. Some reference pics coming soon..

strict9 you pointed out one of my main problems with the concept of D
i mean he's badass, only speaks if really needed, people treat him like vampires, hate him even though he never drinks human blood and have to fight with himself all the time just becouse of it.. so he's strong and powerful. but still they drew him with a bit womenly looking body (regarding legs and waist) and a bit too womenly face. my problem is id like to create D, not an alternate character, but i dont really like how he's not manly enough.. so we'll see

(yet im not even sure if ill go for manga or real style)

I saw this movie 3 times one of the best animated for me.
But I like human hunter team members more. don't know why, perhaps there style is a bit more pleasing to my eye

Honestly the feminine touch of D was always appealing to me and fitted well with his actions. He moved/fought very gracefully, so his "thin" physique felt right to me.

On the other hand I am very curious to see your version of him then!

Jeebs thanks! d the vampire hunter is my favorite anime too. btw the bounty hunter brothers are awsome characters i was thinking on chosing them, it wold be even a great ide to create them 3 characters out of this amount of triangle limit, but that would chew up to much time and i don't have that :P and besides, i prefer the character of D becouse of his personality, not his design
Aemeath true, i didn't have any problem with it when i whatched the film. i only meant spending weeks on a character that is a man who looks a bit womenly in some ways if you catch my drift and based on my experience it can be really hard to create a young male face. if you have to try to keep him young and attractive you can easily create a feminine face out of it.

so yet i'm not sure if i'll change him too much but even if i create a realistic char i still want him to look like D looks in the anime. i mean i will try to keep him from being older, or to look too though if i can. im sure about changing his armour a bit, at least adding some details on the plates..

Sure man I get you, and you sure are right regarding the young male face in my opinion, it can be kinda tricky. Well as I said, I am really looking forward to this one.
