flatscreen colorrealness?

hi there guys..I wondered...I recentrly got a new flatscreen from dell. But some graytints he just don't visualise.
I mean, I was working in a document in photoshop, and I made some grey tekst and set the layer's transparency to 10 and I didn;t see anything anymore, while on my other monitor it looks fine.
it's really irritating cause I photoshop alot and I just need to see everything proper.
Can anyone tell me if I can make some settings so it works fine again?

(sorry for my poor englisch)

Hmm..that could be an issue with the contrast ratio on the LCD.
Can you post the model...or maybe a link to the LCD you're using so I can look over the specs?
Hope you get it worked out soon.
