Soul Cube?

Ok....I am in the excavation levels ...and am using my soul cube[Q key]...and I know that by killing 5 enemies will allow use of the cube.....but in the final boss level....I heard you need 3 soul cube hits to kill him...but I can only use it once....then there are no more enemies to re generate it...am I missing something here?
Also....has anyone else noticed the similarities between the story lines of doom 3 and rtcw?Ancient excavations...artifacts.....sure they are both from the same makers....but are they running out of ideas?....lol
Anyway was a fun game....

In the boss room you got a portal to hell under you feets, and if you run in a circle to avoid the big lad you will encounter small demons that will recharge you soul cube
