opacity(alpha) + textures in one texture map file... how?

Hi

i'm making a character right now and i try to figure out how to put my alpha(opacity) info on it, without making separate texture file.

I need it for the hair, to make it blend nice, but i dont want to make separate opacity texture file, i can't figure out how to make it work... can someone tell me a procedure for making that kind of texture? i just can't get it work the way it should...

thanks

The TGA format supports an alpha channel, for example. I donīt know how the 3D software you use comes around to make use of it though...
