Hey I get to be the first reply!
Seriously, looking good Adamos, very good. Unless you got a kickin' computer, you may just want to consider posting the clays and wireframes....sometimes reflections can get in the way of the finer details of modeling.
I like it a lot!

Speaking of what is good for a portfolio, what do you guys and girls think should be in a portfolio for someone doing or wanting to get into the 3d business? Just curious on your take on this.

According to a few of my friends who are in the industry, it really doesn't matter too much, as long as it looks good (doesn't matter how technically great it is, if if it doesn't look good) and there is variation.

However, that being said, he said there are 3 things you SHOULD NOT do:

Scantly Clad Women
Cyborg/Robots/Androids
Cars

He says simply that EVERYONE does those 3 things, and so your reel won't stand out if you do those things. He was paticularly keen on the cars, as he said it's very rare to see a car model get someone a job.

My modeling/lighting demo reel consists of:

Extreme High Detail model of a horse and chinesse dragon statue
A posed, heavily robed figure on a stair case
An interior of an futuristic industrial fusion generator room (most for lighting that one)
A bounty hunter with multiple clothing layers swinging from a rope
A low poly game model of Samus Aran

Then I have some traditional life drawing work, and photoshop stuff put in as well.

But yeah, as my friend told me never do "the car, the bot or the babe"

lookin good adamos, for some1 who hates car modeling, ur doin a good job.

out of curiousity, do u hav any other demoreel work to show us - or will this be the first piece? curious cos i wanna start a reel soon (still gotta practise a bit) and just wondered if u had ur reel planned?

oh, and i also heard that on top of wot puckducker said u shud not include dragons or spaceships on ur reel, cos they hav been done to death. think the most important thing for a demoreel is to try to b original. and it also depends wot job ur going for - heard its best to specialise in either modeling, rendering, animating etc.

and puckducker do u hav ur reel handy. i love looking at other peoples reels, its very inspiring to c wot non industry people r doing with 3d.

thanks
