Something I'd like you to hear

It's a piece by Rachmaninov for 2 pianos called Tears. It's really beautiful, I hope you like it as much as I do. You can download it here: 'Tears' from Suite No.1 for 2 pianos by Rachmaninov.

Credit goes to the pianists Kit Wei Zheng and Jie Meiyi.
Henrah

Btw, does anyone know how to convert a .rar archive to a .zip? With Winrar it seems all I can make is .rar archives and not .zips, which is shame considering this site will only allow zip attachments.

EDIT: Here's the same file from megaupload.com if savefile doesn't work for you. Sorry for the add, just skip it, type in the code (top right), wait a minute then download.

10 viewings and no one's listened to it? Oh well, so much for trying to introduce classical music (late romantic genre more specifically) to this forum.

I'm listening to it.
It actually has a really nice tune, but its also making me wince which is ruining it slightly...
There seems to be alot of dung notes in places.

At the start for instance, it has a note, and then it goes straight to a note that sounds wrong as the pianos are building up. That part may be right though, as some classical tunes do have some odd notes. (10 to 15 seconds in)

At 38 seconds the main tune comes in and that sounds alright in places.
But, there are definietly some notes that are just wrong

Lol, those wrong notes are purposeful dissonance, though I don't think it sounds like dissonance per se. It's good to know that someone listened to it though

Btw, if you want full blown dissonances, check out some works by Prokofiev, very chromatic. Check out this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bSPDmQtWPak

Ooo, something else which is astoundingly beautiful. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8vvOv0xlLhU I don't like the intro very much, but it suits it when you compare it to when he plays the etude 'The Devils Staircase' where he says: "Imagine you're in hell and you can't get out"

Yeah, thats a really nice performance, and the track sounds nice too.
I love the natural echo of that church!
I liked the main bit of the tune, where it was high, and then the bass goes low but the main tune stays high whne repeating it, if you know where I mean.

I've listened to it since, and it has grown on me. Alot better to listen to it multiple times than to listen once and then give a review.

I totally agree! And I have another beautiful piece for you, called the Ocean Etude by Chopin, the last of his etudes (studies). I will upload it later,
Henrah
