Maxwell renders tend to be grainy - I've seen pros get the grain out but apparently its pretty hard...Its a "real" light-rendering engine, as it uses real-world algorithyms to render.

the skin looks a lot like bumpy plastic and the painted on eyebrows also takes away from the realism.

So could you infact render a huge image and size it down to essentially hide the grain... or will it just render bigger grains?

It's not that it is hard.. it is just REALLY time consuming.. When the image is complete, it is grainy, but if you leave it rendering a bit more, it will become smoother.
You can also use filters for that Ontopic, I think the renders are really good! The girl seems really realistic to me. |

the grain is just how maxwell renders.. the longer you wait, the less grain you have..

Thanks for the comments.
The grain is a combination of the multilight system not having enough time to solve, SSS and caustic reflections. The longest these have rendered is 5hrs, the noise would disappear after 8hrs, but the caustics and SSS areas would take longer to clear. The new 64bit version should speed up render times. Sonix.

Looks good considering the render time.
