Back To my basics . . .

When I started modeling it was mostly one subject type horror style creatures, zombies mostly, but ghosts and other things as well. I figured what the hell I haven't done any ghoulies or ghosties for a while. SO I looking back thought some of my old work yesterday and I decided to redo a Wraith that I had done about 2 years ago. It's a Grim Reaper style of wraith. Any crites are welcome. Oh and so far its 534 face. The Skull is 178, I still have some face reduction to do on it so It should drop to just under 100 faces or so.

Update ready to start texturing

Just thought I'd show it before I start texturing it, the different materials are just for referance as I make the texture. The face count is 862

You might like to use a few more polys onthe skull around the mouth region. the mouth area should jut out a bit as should the chin.

Some small changes to the model around the hood (due to engine requirments) and a texture update.

I use a plug in for Max called "texporter" which exports the UVW mapping to a image, one option is pollygon fill where it shades each poly to show the mapping, I use that on an and edge one image in photoshop as layers to build my textures. The texture isn't finished yet.

yes, I find that the UVW mapping tools very much improved from Max 4

(S)He/It(!) looks a little bit metallic. How undead is it going to be? If ethereal then that's probably ok, but if it has clawed its way out of the ground then the cloak would definitely be dirty, as would the boney fingers...

The metalic look is just bad lighting, though the yellow parts will be embrodered with metalic designs. As for whether it is physical or ethereal, it actually is somewhere between the two. Part decaying bones and rages and part spirit energies (thus the reasons for no legs.) I've lightly based it upon the Tolken ring-wraiths and the classic Grim Reaper. I hope I can portary the right sence of forboding.

I do plan to dirty the robe up a bit, but it will be a simi-transparnt creature so I can't do to much dirt or it will over power the other details. But thanks for suggesting it.
