Camera for Texture photography ?
Hi,
i need a new Camera wich is good for shooting Textures. The main Problem now are the highlights and reflections in the pictures. I don't know but is it posible to adjust de highlights afterwards by taking the photos in .raw format ? or are there any other tricks/techniques to get some mainly diffuse illuminated Pictures whitout going to a studio ? Any advice which camera, lens and filter is good for this ? Thanks. |

Thanks, but i need some more Advanced tips.
I want to reduce the time i need in Photoshop to correct my Textures. The Contrast and other Filter settings are not the problem its the time i need to correct some bad effects like reflections, highlights, noise, chromatic aberration or some bad effects which come from the Digital Camera i use right now. |

if that is the case you need to learn how to light what you are going to shoot. This way you can control your own lighting, highlights and all that jazz.
That and a decent camera... |

It's a rare image that does not have any light direction. Photoshoping for textures is quite unavoidable. The trickiest part for texturing photography to me is that all one really can shoot is walls etc. To get all the good, ground, roof etc, you sort of need Peter Parkers other ability more than his photography skills.
The best tip one can give on texturing photo is to take pictures on overshoot days, IE: when you can barley see your own shadow. Or in locations with diffuse light, such as airport terminals, museums, large hall structures in general. |
