Is the order of completing a low poly character

1.Uvmap
2.Unwrap
3.Texture Bake
4.Paint in photoshop

0)Cool char

1/2) So now you need to break up your model. Make the head one group, hands another, torso yet another etc. (Heh, I know mine isnt the best but heh it took me forever to teach myself) and then add a CYLINDER for all of them, then add a UVUNWRAP and hit EDIT, look at how it unwraps it. Wrong? Delete it, go to GIZMO under UVMAPPING and rotate it etc. Add back the UVUWRAP, it may be upside down, just rotate it.

2 Cont.) So now you need to fix up the vertices and break and weld it all together. wow..your done.

3) Now that you have it split up and all correct. go to texporter and hit pick object click on them. look! they are like the one in UVUNWRAP! save it as a jpg or whatever.

4) hm....I have not a clue as I suck at texturing and have yet to learn.

--On a side not, I intead to make a DETAILED tutorial for unwraping and fixing a head model, and maybe in time a whole human. Why? Because like that GAME question I am getting sorta tired of people asking how to UVUNWRAP. So, gimmie the rest of the summer and it will come

well I can tell you this much, there are tutorials out there. Check that out that STICKY with tutorials. BUT! They never really go into detail. They say stuff like "add a base color, now add highlights....and you just sit there and are like "Whaaattt?"

There was the PERFECT book at Barnes and Nobles the other day, I will have to get the name again, that shows you how to paint characters in PS!!!! But it cost 50 bucks and I was like "damnit!"

So in truth, texturing is something no one can TEACH you. You just have to try and try. Its just like DRAWING or better yet PAINTING. No one can teach you to draw. They can show you techniques, but in the end it always you and the pencil or brush and you have to figure out what to do. Just take your time, and experiment.

If I were to give any "techinque" it would be make a new layer, add a base color, add another layer, change the opacities and colors and paint, smear, airbrush, blur it all together.

cheers.
