andreasrocha - Abominable Snowman
A bit late but I will try and finish it. Trying to improve my character work.
I started off very small. I will then add a background and colour, although I will attempt to concentrate on the rendering of the creature. ![]() |

Thanks guys...but the truth is that the above image was really crap. Now that I look at it, I hate it...looks like Jack Frost (look it up!).
I started over with a more mass oriented approach. It is inspired by the technique of the great Jaime Jones. ![]() |

WOW! MAN!
Can you tell more about the mass oriented approach? I love Jaime's paintings.

I use a really textured brush. I think I found it from Mathias Verhasselt brush set. I star with large dabs of colour and try to establish big masses first. The most important thing is working out lighting and colour. Details start to emerge slowly aftwerwards. Well, this is my attempt...I'm still working on it.

Awesome! Although I do prefer the previous one, the horns and the angry/evil look in his eyes in the last WIP would suggest that he is way more aggressive and that he would've already attacked the samurai (?) way before he could get so close.
But the style is brilliant! Love it. (And bookmarked the Jamie Jones site also) |

Thanks guys.
Randize - about the colors they just appeared...I thought about those Tibetan tapestries and since the Yeti is supposedly from Nepal...it's something more subjective...it was not a conscious choice, I think. snwbrdr - you're absolutley right...I tried to correct the posture towards the warrior in this update. In this one he looked like he was eating a chicken thigh or something. I think that now everything is more or less settled and I will start to detail and polish the main areas. Let's see how it goes. ![]() |
