Gift to the Gods- Votive offering
First post and first entry here. This will be a 2d offering I'm afraid but as thisis a unified challenge I hope that that is OK.
Background: Voting offerings have been common throughout human history. The scene here is remaniscent of a prehistory iron age level figure making an offering. There are many sites in the UK, for example Flag Fen, where many such offering have been found. These are often valued useful objects probably offered as sacrifices to the gods in return, it is hoped for good fortune. So what happens when you make such an offering (an ornate gold and silver sword say) and someone (something...) actually replies? Wip1: basic sketch Wip2: setting some context and colour to the background Wip3: laying down some basic colour. Still very messy at this stage.

Welcome to the forums, nice start, good blocking out so far, neat enough pose too. Looking forward to seeing where you take this and indeed finishing it too

Thanks for the welcome Chunkymunky. I was after a more personal interpretation rather than some of the grand epic scale iamges so far

The basic concept looks nice.
It helps to see some of the colours you will be using. Nice post

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Started on the detail and got a bit carried away before I remembered another wip. so here it is. Flipped the horizontal. Changed the headress. Still need to add details to the hood and cloak and tidy up the background.

Many thanks for the kind words people! Here's another update but I admit that I've hit a brick wall with this. I was going to have cloth or flags hanging from the branch behind similar to a prayer tree, but these got in the way of the head so I took em out. However I can't help feeling that there is something missing as the image as whole is........dunno, lacking something but can't put my finger on it. Most frustrating. Am hoping that fresh eyes might have some ideas. Is it the composition, colour scheme?
Help!
