lighting question
ok Im fairly new to the whole lighting and texturing of things... I was wondering what settings and how should your lights be set up with light tracer to get that cool sculpture look of your model. Everytime i try it my model comes out extremely bright white with hardly any shadows... any ointers would be awesome.

with light tracer you use the skylight.
So place skylight in your scene[anywhere dosen`t matter]then turn on light tracer.Render your scene. This gives you GI. Then if you want to place other lights about.....but they must be very low intensity.....mabey .2....because you already have sufficient light in the scene of the skylight. Ususaly the extra lights can be set to specularity only with diffuse turned off. ciao |

in your light tracer settings...make sure global multiplier is set to 1 .....higher than that will wash out your scene...

Try this,
Create a skylight. Set the color to a slight blue(up a bit from the default), and change it's multiplier to .6 Now create a targeted spot. Set it up so that it is hitting the model at around 45degrees, and off center a bit. Turn on shadows, and set the shadow type to "Area". Make the light color a slight blue. Open the Advanced lighting dialog(render menu). Change these settings from the defaults: Rays/Sample: 45 Filter size: 6 Make a new default material and use the default grey. Appy it to your model. In the render dialog, set your AA to "catmull-rom". |
