re-attaching the reference copy

hello,

I am trying to model a character in 3D max 6. I read about the technique where you model only half of the character and copy that half to make it a reference object.

So I did that, and my character is now finished.
Now I want to start rigging my character, but I don't know how to re-attach the reference half to the original half.

I modeled the half using an editable poly with a meshsmooth modifier on top of it.

any help will be appreciated.
