Modeling Alfro Hair

I would like to model an alfro for my character but im not sure were to begin. Any suggestions would be appriciated

what software are you using???

it'd probably be easiest to get a hair plug-in. if you're using Max, something like shag hair should work fine. it quite good....altho usually involves a lot of tweaking to get the desired results.

if you're using maya it should come with hair effects (maya unlimited does I think....but I'm not sure about maya complete).

other software I'm not sure about.....i think softimage has a hair effect...not sure about lightwave tho

I'm using 3d Studio Max 6. I also have Maya but ive never used it.
