I just want to know is it cheating if you model something awesome and it takes more than an hour. And after that you start it compleatly again, knowing how it will be done. After couple of attempts you could do it under an hour. How will it be taken here?

goljat if I'm not wrong you can restart your model how many times you want, the important thing is that the model you submit has been done in the allowed modelling time.if not they'll disqualify mine also as it requested alot of attempt to be done within time limit

goljat: Mr. Lemon is correct. You may restart a model over if you go over the time limit. There's nothing wrong with making practice runs. The main thing is that when you submit a model, it is done within the time limit we allow. In the end, your honesty is the most important thing. The goal here is to learn, improve and do your best. And don't be afraid to ask questions either... we're all here to help each other.

entry #3
praveen3d - That's quite a nice shield. It doesn't really even need a texture.
This next one's a little different. First off, I have no idea what I've done. I got about 10 minutes into a standard tower shield and just decided to hit delete and try something different. This is what happens when you add a symmetry modifier to a rectangle and use too many extrusions. Now I know sometimes I get my inspiration from things like demon skulls wearing flotation rings, but not this time. For the strap I used a helix again to get enough rotations around the ring, then an edit poly so I could scale the center inwards and the top and bottom out a bit to fit the edges. I rotate/copied using the center of the ring, then attached them together and bridged the two ends. If nothing else, this shield should at least protect you from insurance salesmen. This was actually pretty fun to make. Well, until the unwrapping part. Software: 3DS Max Modeling: 49 minutes Texturing: 130 minutes Rendering: 14 minutes Oh, and gout. It protects against gout, too.

Hi to all !
I'm back on the forum, I was away from a long time... goljat I like very mutch you work ! That worth your multiple attempts ! There are really many awesome models, like the 1st of L3XICON, the head of mimi01, rendering of adamos' 1st entry is as always terrible, DaddyDoom's umbrella ! wow ! Here's my entry. As usual my texturing and rendering is poor quality, but I tried to be original for modeling !

A short brake in all this rain.
In Norway this summer has been rain, rain and more rain. And i think its about the same in the UK or worse? So the water level at the family cabin at the lake was 100cm´s above normal. Great fun That lake usually goes up and down with 20 cm max.. ![]() So after 7 days of cleaning up, and taking in the fact that water is a blessing and a curse, finally some therapy. My final one. 3Dmax Time:60 min. |

Rain... Down here in Portugal we're dealing with 35ºC temperatures... I live about 5km from the beach and I can't go because i'm stuck with tons of work.
I have seen the news and things are really wet up there. Good luck to all of you, and that no harm comes from it. |

Hi everyone, here's my next entry.
I was running out of time, so a lot of it is just repeated geometry with noise modifiers. Actually, I put a little bit of noise in everything to try to give it some life. It was looking really dead...lol. I hope you like it, I really appreciate any c&c ![]()

I made the symbol ring by creating the shape once then cloning it 40 times\velding them and then shaping it into a circle using a path deform modifier. |

Hi! A lot of great entries so far. So i´ve decided to participate myself for the first time. I never use displacement maps due to my very slow computer but I tried it this time and it worked out fine. I hope you like it.
