Dandelion

Hello,

I decided to post here objects, characters, render test and maybe animation tests from a WIP animation. I am working together with a friend (Vali Popescu) who is creating the riggs for the characters.

So, animation title is "Dandelion" and it's the story of a small dandelion seed.

Any suggestions and comments that can help in making the animation look better are more that welcomed.

For the beginning I will post here some characters I have modeled and a quick render test of a jewel that happened to be lost in the grass. Some objects have more details like the dragonfly and others are secondary characters and they are very low in details.

Thank you for your time.

looking good so far simovivi =) really like the horned beetle. not entirely sure what the wheeled contraption is, but it looks good :P not much to crit really from the renders. though one suggestion would be that if some of the models are for background stuff. and particularly if in distance, is that you could probably loose the turbosmooth on them and reduce your rendering times especially as these bugs have a lot of curvature in them which will really increase the polies when sub divided if they gonna be 'filmed' close up.. keep the smoothing

also like the beaten up gold material you have used to set the jewels in

thank you L3XICON. I forgot to mention that everything was done in Maya and the jewel was rendered using Mental Ray.

You are right regarding the characters and objects in the background. According to the distance to the camera i will use either smooth or just just making the normal softer.

more objects

Few more objects added. I think i will add more details before starting texturing. Then I will see if I need more details for the objects. For example, the small alley in front of the house and the stairs will be modeled according to the ground, so I will let them like this till I put the ground.

dragonfly texture

These days I tried to create the shader for the dragonfly. This is what I managed to create. I think I will add some small detail on the texture map but it won't be too complicated.

Thanks for your comment. But, unfortunately, I prefer to keep the story secret for the moment. When I have the a preview of the entire animation I will post it here, hoping to receive some useful informations regarding the timing, motions, cameras, etc.

update

Hi again. I put here some animation drafts of the camera. The feeling I want to show: the dragonfly has to be like that kind of human that making something special becomes like a model for others. Here , the movements of the dragonfly has to be the "special" thing. Those moves will be watched by the main character.

The link to the playblasts:

Any suggestion that can help me expressing better the feeling I described earlier, is more than welcomed.

Thanks

Thank you, Firehazurd, it's the story I want to viewer to be focused on the story, and the background should only help it. Any suggestion is more than welcomed.
