DWIII - 3D - Khemist000 - Theos
First post on the forums and first time participating in the Dominance War. Im still battling for ideas as I have a very, very rough start.
Theos is a former saint/priest/angel turned demon during the war. As technology fades and magick becomes the weapon he turns back towards good as an invoker of holy/light. The scars of his past are clearly visible; he is no angel now. Heres some initial sketches a quickie PS sketch will probably come tonight or tomorrow. |

A Different Direction?
Taking Theos into a bigger more monk looking direction. Bleeding eyes and bulkier muscles. Heres a quickie I started painting. Still gasping for ideas

awesome idea, i like the saint gone dark theme. just a suggestion, try to refrain from using the cross as a symbol of holy or light. its too generic, i didnt use it on mine for same reasons. i dont know if you know what i mean by that. but holy can be other than the cross as well you know. also the ****** eyes is really cool but the baldness is making him look uncool. find another alternative, maybe braided dreadlocks, to show dark and light mix match his look.

Thanks guys. Ryvick, great Suggestions. I think I agree with your being against the cross. One thing I want to try and avoid is Cliche type of things and thats a pretty big cliche. I think I will hack it out. Also on the hair, Ill have to see...
Thanks! |

Love the blood tears look. I think I like your initial, skinnier, sketch a bit more....but this seems to be off to a really solid start.

Just picked up "Anatomy for Fantasy Artists." Im soo damn rusty in drawing, and the human structure in general. For 20 bucks this book seems pretty good as it covers lots of different types of characters and their general anatomy showing cool poses ect. Seems like it will be good reference and inspiration.

i liked the skinny looking angel in the first concepts more then the bulky angels, the bleeding eyes and blood cross on the forehead are nice.

This was more a bit of a study of some basic anatomy but I like how the wings came out. I think I will definitely keep them more dark and foreboding rather than traditional white angel wings. Im still not sure of the direction of the character, but I agree with you guys that the skinnier designs are a bit more interesting, I do love the arms and hands of that first sketch, they are more demon-like which is kind of what I want; a "holy" character juxtaposed with demon esque features and qualities. Maybe Ill focus a bit on making some less bulky concepts.
Im at a loss for a weapon or relic. I agree that a cross is too much, I think Im scraping that idea. I had a few sketches with a Bible-like tome but Im not really sold on that idea either. I definitely want to try and go non-traditional. Something like a sketch I saw on the boards of almost like a battering ram type of weapon. I dont think it would fit here but something unusual like that would be cooler than a sword or staff. |

i like the idea of having an alternative halo as the traditional ring makes him look like a kind being who just happens to have the form of a hulking demon. i wonder if having black or darker blood coming from his eyes would look more menacing. maybe he could be clothed a little more, like tattered priest robes or something to that effect.

Haikai, i agree about the halo, I didnt really think about it till I was pretty much done or I would have sketched it in. Next one I will defiantely explore the square halo, or design some others. About the clothes... this is definately not going to be his wardrobe, I was definately thinking some kind of robes at least for his lower half, not sure about the torso.
Lots more sketching to do. |

Hey man those wings are look great. Ya I'd like to see more blood streaming down his face. I think pushing that a bit more would go a far. It really makes him a disturbing character. Keep it up man look good!

Ah i see your angel now
I LOVE the tan sketch, I think it's cartoony proportions might play to your strength and also be unique. Everyone is so serious and you could have a dark slightly anime take on it here. When playing with halo designs, think about things people put on their heads... hats, crowns, hair clips, headbands, helmets, sunglasses... I mean anything and everything that has a use for putting it on your head and thenkind of play off of why your character needs one and how he'll have it in combat. |

Thanks Stephan_R. Im still not quite sure of the direction I want the character to go
so I have lots more sketching to do. I just came up with a cool weapon design that will play off of the halo designs a bit. Hopefully I can paint something up tonight. Im still struggling for a final look, but certain pieces Im happy with. |
