This is my entry for the Supersoldier Speed Sculpting Challenge. Initial sculpting took 3h40m, but I wanted to do more so I've brought him into 3dsmax and made textures for him. I've put together this recruiting poster. 3DTotal needs YOU. If you haven't tried yet, go give sculpting a try.
Comments for this guy are also most welcome.

Now that's an interesting idea.
Sadly though, I am anything but a "speed" sculpter. I'm so mechanically minded that the less precise organic workflow always gets squished by that "nope still not right" mindset...and what should have taken 30 minutes takes 3 hours.

Since the Stylized Challenges came to an end, I'm gonna give it a try from now on. I'm still very very very very green to ZB, but whatta hell, you gotta start somewhere and sometime right?

the soldier looks a bit unfinished. and the skin-texture could be less glossy. but i never did sculpting and believe it is very difficult to get human shapes/muscles. when i will start learning sculpting i will start with an .... yes alien

DaddyDoom: Indeed. I started about a year ago, but didn't really practice much. But if you keep at it for a couple of weeks, you'll never want to go back to poly modelling organics.
![]() le1setreter: Thanks for the comments! I used some powerful lights here, must be why he looks "sweaty". You should really try sculpting, giving life to a character is extremely rewarding. Even if they're from outer space.

Hallo Freespace, your sculpting look great,
sometimes the models look great in clayrender and is tempting to let them inside the modeler because it's hard to keep the good look when we try to make the realistic texturing and render in another application, good for you. The only part that I think needs a bit of work is the 5 o clock shadow, now it looks a bit too painted, maybe more noise and irregularity on the color and bumb. good job =) |

hey freespace. not bad man and i liek the poster. he's got the right look for the grungy text. i agree with migelowsky about the texture. its pretty east to make stubbles that look pretty good tho. either try a light grey/blue color and add the max hair modifier to him in the right areas or add a dark grey/blue/black layer in PS and put some noise on it. i think that should work. if not, take a look at a tutorial over at www.poopinmymouth.com
i really think that if you put a bit more effort into the stubble, itll look awesome. some color variation in the skin is also good. often, the nose is a bit redder then the rest of the face. gl dude.
