Editablepoly or multiple commands in edit stack, which one do you prefer?

Just want to have some ideas from any forigner 3d artists which modeling method you prefer between editablepoly(mesh) and multiple commands ie extrude, bevel, noise lathe, and etc. I always finish my modeling with editablepoly as the number of objects in the scene will be lesser and also it's easier and faster when we have some revisions after that.

We have discussed before in a thai 3d architecture forum whether drawing the same model with multiple objects (using multiple commands) or editablepoly, which method should has lesser amount of polygons. we tried to give the reason by showing an example of drawing using different method as you can view from our forum. It's in thai but on page 2-4 have more pictures about this and may make you better understanding that what we were trying to do.

Possibly, I want to know if someone can give some good ideas, advantage and disadvantage or even a theory.
