Cowboy

Hi all, have been away for a very long time, and may not stay too long this time. Would like c&c though.
Trying to make a nice cowboy scene, and since my organic isn't that good, I started with some props.
The hat, and a revolver, yet to be completed/be worth posting. Will try do get it postable tonight though.

overall, it looks fine. But, this doesn't seem "low poly / real-time" to me. How many triangles in that beast?

so not to overload the forum with endless amounts of useless topics, untill the topic is moved, i'll keep posting here, and maybe send a PM to a mod to move this one.
Next update: the barrel and bullet-holding-thingie.
the holder is sideways just a cilinder, so i posted the front view wire,
the barrel is a cilinder with an extrusion for the sight, only side view, any other views wanted, just ask, and i'll post. C&C welcome as always.

the bullet holding thingy seems to be a bit too smooth. i understand that you may have turbo or meshsmooth on, but try doing it with smoothing groups active. you could also get away with chamfering some edges instead of doing the overall tesselation.

also, at the very end of the barrel, towards the top, it looks like 1 vertex is pulled up slightly higher giving a tear-drop effect on the overall shape of the barrel.

while the terms are slightly different in blender, i do get the general meaning, except for the chamfering, so if one could explain that. the teardrop indeed is a point of fixing, but merely a detail in comparison to the fact that i still have to make the rest of the body, and a few bullets to go with it.

Chamfering is like, well, on a 4x4 piece of lumber the edges are very sharp, say (90 degree angles). A carpenter will use a block plane, run it over an edge and end up with two new edges. Chamfering will create two new edges equadistant from the original edge, while eliminating the original. Hope this makes sense

It's making an edge of, let's say a box, that looks like this:

___
....|
....|

into looking like this:
__
....\
.....|

Does that help a little bit?

so, since i wasn't really pleased with former results, restarted most of it. the new bulletholder is ready, and the barrel and wires will be posted later today.
